Ciudad Montes - Bogota?

What is the barrio Ciudad Montes like in Bogota? Wealthy area? Poor area? etc? How far from US embassy or Coferias?

I would not recommend it, rather be in Ciudad Salitre

I couldn't disagree more. Salitre is too Americanized for me, too much built around the car. You couldn't pay me to live there, and it's very inconveniently located.

Ciudad Montes actually has lots of neighborhoods in it, some are better than others. The main drag of the commercial part of it is La Ocho, or Cll 8 sur, which is nice in the day but a bit dangerous at night, generally locals will walk it at night, but in groups, not alone. That's good advice for ANYWHERE in Bogota though, and Ciudad Montes really doesn't represent any crime risk. Most of Ciudad Montes is Estrato 3, with a bit of Estrato 2. It's generally located around La 30 and Av 1 de Mayo. I personally lke it a lot there, but it's also a little too out of the way for me, but has much better access to the rest of the city than Salitre for example, because it's near more mayor routes plus the TM.

I found it on the map and it seemed to be not to far from Coferias or the US Embassy. Salitre as in Salitre Mall???

It's middle class. If you're ignorant, it'll scare you at first. Personally, I love the neighborhood, the CM park is amazing!! Also since everyone is pretty much lower white collar it makes for a safe/stable environment.

Salitre is right next to Corferias, the US Embassy, Salitre Mall, Salitre Magico, and the Terminal de Transportes among other things, but it's far from the rest of civilization, all the culture, etc. and it's hard to get to other parts of the city from it. It will be better when they open up the TM line along la 26.
