My wife is going this month for the citizenship exam. We found the studyguide online. We also found about 100 pages on U.S. history and 60 on U.S. government. Does anyone know if these extensive readings will be on part of the exam questions or is she fine just using the study guide w/ sample questions?

When I went for my exam (many years ago) I bought the current Almanac and read all the history and other political info in there and nothing else. I had my interview and realized that just the guide that they hand out (which I didn't have as I had done everything through the mail) is more than enough - I was asked a couple questions about the flag; about the balance of power; the first amendment; number of states; number of senators from each state; the name of senators from my state; the name of the first president - current president and vice president and nothing more! Fairly straight forward. Good Luck

Gator says on Apr 12, 2006, 14:24: Z_gringo, I Assume You... are in Colombia now? If so what type visa do you have-again I assume spouse. If so you can apply for permanent residence in Colombia after three years. After another three years, I think, or maybe five years you can apply for Colombian citizenship through MRE. I checked thoroughly into this question some years ago and to go from permanent resident to citizen was of no real value to me in light of the paperwork-your case may be different.
