Chiquita brands executives involved in an investigation by la Fiscalia

I hope they get indicted and convicted.
It is the same company that promoted the 1928 masacre (back then called United Fruit Co) cited in many Garcia Marquez novels.

Some typical PC logic. This company did something bad 70 years ago, when the execs in question weren't even born, so they deserve to be jailed.

According to the article you cite, the company claims that the payments were protection money, and that they paid it to both the AUC and the FARC. Gee, businessmen being extorted in Colombia, who would believe that far-out claim? Everyone knows that extortion is impossible in Colombia due to the super-effective Colombian justice system.

60 to 70 years ago, Mitsubishi, Suzuki, Honda, Kawasaki, Hitachi all used slave labor. Mitsubishi I recall made a lot of the Japanese planes that actually attacked Pearl Harbor and that the US fought against in the Pacific theatre. And that is relevant now?

Wasn't United Fruit actually bought by Chiquita? So Chiquita becomes automatically guilty? 70 years ago?

Yep, it is incredible, isn't it? Everything is cool while the company is being extorted, but as soon as it gives up to go to safer and more profitable countries, SCANDALOUS!
