There was a recent posting by.... I don't remember, who asked about investing in Exito, the largest colombian retailer. Well, it looks like he/she was onto something, in today's news they announced that a chilean investment group bought 25% of Exito, they paid 250 million dollars, that means the company's market cap is 1 billion dollars.
This means also that Exito is owned now by Casino (about 30%), Cencosud (25%) and the rest by colombian investors. The company's headquarters in located in Medellin.
It's interesting to note that most of that 25% stock was owned by one single family, the Toro family, they were the original founders of Exito in the 70s.
This is a link to the news (in spanish)
