I have friends in Cali, Medellin and other parts of Colombia. I've used calling cards purchased off the web and have been burnt by lies. Lately I've been buying $5 orbitel cards at the local bodega, but there's got to be a better way............

morphus says on Nov 11, 2007, 19:47: Look for the "Hot Dog" phone cards at the Bodegas. $2 gives you 2 hours to the house phone and 1 hour to a cell phone in Colombia.

TonyMattei says on Nov 12, 2007, 02:52: the cheapest way is to buy vonage phone service and for 25 dollars a month or for an extra 14.99 extra a month for latin american package you can call 10 countries in south america and central america and talk as long as you want 24/7. or if you have a girlfriend there activate vonage here and send it to her in colombia. vonage is a voip so she needs broadband internet.

lpdiver says on Nov 13, 2007, 03:00: I have found the gold oro phone cards cheap and reliable. The only times we have problems are on high traffic times like Christmas Day, Mother's Day, etc. I suspect that all systems have problems at those times. "cook some rice!" 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

ronaldo says on Nov 17, 2007, 08:50: Depends where you are calling from..........I call from Canada for 2.5 cents a minute up to 1,000 minutes. Over 1,000 minutes is .05 cents a minute. No difference in rates for land lines or cel calls. If you are making calls that last a long period of time you can get a card (don't have it handy) and costs .95 cents connection fee and ZERO cents per minute, you only pay the connection fee.
