Cheapest Flights from N.Y.C. to either Medellin or Colombia

I Agree With viktorinox Always check Avianca both the web site and call the 800 number. But, Paisa_en_San_Fr says, check a flight from NYC to Miaim, usually cheap, then see what's from Miami to Colombia. I have had little trouble with Avianca or Copa, especially Copa.

Try these guys, they always give a price under the published airfare. I fly out of Newark, NJ. For example I just bought a one-way to Medellin and aa.com wanted $691 one way and $1100+ RT, But this website got me American Airlines flight i usually take for $391 one way + $10 fee. Last time I went round trip and on aa.com it's typically in the $726 range and these guys got it for $501 again same itinerary. AVianca out of JFK has a non-stop to Medellin and a stop in Bogota on the return and they charge in the $500+ range round trip right now but it varies and can also hit $1100 at times.

But use the Orbitz, Travelocity, etc. as well. Funny and true story. Once I went for the Avianca non-stop out of JFK and they were getting like $700+ for it. Well they sent me an email 2 weeks b4 the flight to say my itinerary had been changed and the non-stop was changed to with a stop in Bogota. Well as I said above I live 10 minutes from Newark and the non-stop was the whole reason I was willing to schlep over to JFK but that was now taken away. Remember a ticket and it's itinerary is a contract so the second they change it (not due to "force majure" reasons such as bad weather, etc.) you can demand a refund. So I did and I expected to do my typical American out of Newark flight when I saw on Orbitz a JFK-MIA; MIA-MDE flight for $278 round trip. They still wanted $700 out of Newark so it was still worth paying the car service to/fro JFK. Never saw anything like that fare since.

Also, the American flights down to miami are usually full but the miami to medellin is dead to medium at best and you can always get your own row and spread out thus simply call the airline and ask for a better fare, you'd be amazed what they'd do simply by asking.
