Cheap but nice Cali furnished Apartment with internet and A/C

A cousin of mine is looking for a furnished 1 or 2 bedroom apartment in a safe area estrato 4-5 in Cali with centrail air and broadband cable internet to use his Vonage phone and have fast access to the internet. He will visit Cali for a week, maybe two, in August.

Anyone knows of apartments that are "Colombian priced" not gringo priced, for around 300.000 pesos a week? is this a reasonable rate?

Please let me know so I may tell him. Thank you.

I have only been to Cali once, but will still say that this does not sound like a reasonable rate at all when referring to apartamento amoblados in general that have all those feautures, PLUS you want strato 4 or 5? Try doubling that...unless someone can prove me wrong with a good reference to back it up! If so, I'll book the place myself for a longer second trip!

Are you joking? Does the name A Brode ring a bell? the name is Arthur Brode and his website is something like calirentals.net - A B is a poorbut happy legend and can set you up A to Z in Cali.

Whatever you need in Cali Broders got it.

I never said you CAN'T find accomodations, and A Brode is the man for Cali, but I still thing the prices are being quoted far too low for all the amenities he wants...

and FYI Poorbutsnappy, a "bump" on this board does not put you at the top like other website forums - it just shows as an unread message.

Thanks big. I may be wrong but Arthur Brode asks for $30 a night if I remember well and it appears to me like "gringo" prices.

In any case, what is a fair rent for what my cousin is looking for say for 1 week, 2 weeks or one full month

Well, I can only compare Medellin and Barranquilla, but considering all the things you are asking for, and in the strato you want, that kind of limits things to (#1) fully furnished apartments at (#2) relatively high prices. Don't get fooled into thinking that just because you can live here cheap you can get high-end and short-term accomodations for dirt cheap. A Brode's prices are good, and I would say they only get MORE expensive from there. Be careful to distinguish the difference between "gringo prices" and "realistic prices" for a fully-furnished pad with all the amenities. A Brode has realistic prices for apartments in Cali - gringo prices would be the same place, overinflated to about $70 a night to pull extra cash out of a traveler who has no other choice - that's not him in my opinion. I almost stayed in one of his places when I headed up there last month but opted for a Hostel to save some cash. I would say, from my experience, expect to pay $30-90 nightly, $200-500 a week or about $800 to $1300 monthly depending on how nice you want it. It gets MUCH cheaper when you are down here permanently and set upa place for yourself. I pay a total of about $750 monthly to live the equivalent of what would cost about $2200 in Dallas.

thanks again.

400.000 a week or maybe 600.000- 700.000 for two weeks seem reasonable... Other than Arthur brode, is there anyone else who has what my cousin is looking for? He is ready to book right away, he just told me.

Big Texas - Agreed.

Medellin and Cali are fairly similar in prices - except I find I spend more money when I stay in Cali than in Medellin. But a little more not like Bogota or something.

Talk to Art. Jump on it. I stayed at a really nice place. Called something like Suiteshouse.com It was $100 a night. If you talk to the owner ahead of time he might let you have it for $75 a night. That's about it. Unless you want to stay in a cheap hotel. Check the travel guide. Then you might not like what you booked, and be screwed out of your money. With AB you can see what you are getting. You can stay at that hotel down on Sexta Ave. My girlfriend checked it out one time. Said it was a dirty hotel tho. And loud !!

My wife and I have two nice furnished rooms for rent. We have a huge penthouse in the north of Cali in the Zona Rosa area. Almost anything you need is within a block or two. There is no AC, but there is a ceiling fan, and since we are in the north, we get the cool breezes off of the Andes sooner in the afternoon. There is also a 1500 square foot terrace to enjoy the view of the three crosses, and just hang out and enjoy the million dollar view.

From Cali 668-2261
International - 011-572-668-2261
Ask for:
Pure American English-John
Spanish and English-Sara

50,000 pesos per night
280,000 pesos per week
1 million pesos per month
Add 5,000 Pesos per night for a couple.

We have hot showers!
Sheets and towels are changed on a weekly basis, and as soon as you check out. Please ask for new towels or sheets if you need them sooner.
The kitchen is freely available for your use. Please clean up after yourself. You may store your food and beverages in the refrigerator.
The washing machine and drying area is free and available for your use. One scoop of detergent is enough for any sized load. Most loads should be set to small or medium.
The TV room has DirecTV. Please ask for assistance to use it.
We are sometimes using our two broadband computers ourselves, but you can ask to interrupt us or use the place across the street for 1500 Pesos per hour.

Too bad... Art Bode did his best for my cousin. The lowest Art Bode was able to find was an apartment without A/C for 1.2 Million pesos and that is for two weeks.

Unless he can find something with A/C and internet for under a Million pesos for 2 weeks, he will skip Cali all together.

Maybey your cousin should think about going to a smaller City.
And 1.2 million pesos is not a bad deal for two weeks in a 2br apartment in Cali(estrato 5) with internet,no a/c

Poor But Snappy gettin on PBH and Calling out the BRODENATOR - weak, seriously weak. Perhaps you have not heard much of the brodenator - My man Art Brode keeps it pretty street in Cali. One time doode went to tres cruces with a pair of board shorts, no shirt, and some sandales, doode came back in a 70s cadillac with two calenas, and a nickle sack of the colombian booger sugar. If you are going to call out AB maybe it is better that you stay away from CALI.

Bottom line if AB is delivering it - you cant beat it. Trust me.

AB Testify my man, testify - let doode stay in Estrato 3. These people think Cali is like Medellin, a friendly walk in the street. It aint.

I just left Cali last Tuesday and was staying at Cora Suites which I highly recommend. You get a nice apartment for cheaper than lots of the hotels. It's on the 9va with 17n right by that Juan Valdez that I've heard people comment about. Great location in Granada. The tarrifas are around 115,000 per night, for 1 or 2 people, breakfast included. If you stay 15 days you get a discount comes to just over 100,000 per night.

You can't beat this location. And the staff is great!! The furniture is not new or fancy, but the apts are well furnished and you have good space. I don't have the website exactly but do a google search for Cora Aparta Suites Cali and you should find it, maybe in the paginas amarillas. It does have hot water and AC.
