Changing Visa Status

Hi all, I really searched the site for some previous comments on this, but I did not find any similar visa questions, except for those who wanted to get married.

That is not my case and i was just wondering whether you can enter colombia on an X visa (say student visa) and then before it actually expires, go to some neighbouring country to obtain a working visa.

Moreover, i wonder if you can enter colombia (with a one year, non-tourist visa) without a return ticket.
