Cesped en La Lineas?

During my last trip to Colombia I noticed a grassy weed growing on the untility lines. I asked what it was and was told it was grass. In some areas there are clumps and clumps of the stuff all over the untility lines and I found it as very odd since I have never seen anything of this nature before. It was in Ibague Colombia. I have pics of it but don't know how to post them here.

Is it light grey? I have heard that it is some sort of moss or parasitic plant...I have seen it too. It's lots of fun to play with it. I once chucked it at my brother by surprise and it scared the cr*p out of him, as it looks like a huge hairy spider!

I don´t know what it is but there are many plants that get their food from the air. I know that at least some if not all orchids don´t need soil.
