Cellular internet with comcell

I just got a cellular modem with comcel. It cost 160000cop with 2 weeks of unlimted use. After than, it is 5000 a day if you buy one day or 80000 for a month (all unlimited use)

It averages over 100KiloBYTES / second and I get downloads with bittorrent up to 200kb/s.

It's way faster and a bit cheaper in the internet in my house and works anywhere a cellphone works.

Chris, thanks for the update. I need to sign up to one of these services soon.

Any chance you could do a speed test on
http://myvoipspeed.visualware.com/ and let us know the result?

Art Brode posted some speed tests a few months back, and they were kind of underwhelming. It would be good to see the speeds you're getting.

Also, what city are you in? Depending on the provider, sometimes they only offer the fastest speeds in the main cities. For example, Tigo has 3.5G services in the principal cities, but not in Santa Marta for example. You still get service in Santa Marta, but it's a big step down in speed. I'm guessing Comcel has the best coverage, nationwide.

Cheaper than in your house? really? I find that hard to believe unless you were getting majorly bent over.
I pay 55,000 COP per month for dsl through ETB. Don't know the numbers as far as speed but its just as fast
as any cable internet I've had in the states and faster than any cellular internet can provide.

Remember the speed depends on where you are. Go into some rurual areas and the speed drops back to less than dialup speeds - goes back to GPRS which is 1G - if at all working.. It's fine if you can get along with 200-400kb and are in populated areas..
