Cell phone plan for extranjeros

Does anyone know what the situation is for getting a post-pago plan with a cedula extranjeria. One place, comcel, tried to say I couldn't, i'm guessing because I need some sort of credit. Anyone have experience with this, I'm sure I must be able to get it somehow. I mean having I have a corriente account, that means I have some sort of credit line, but I don't have any credit history. I can't be buying these 20 mil phone credit every other day anymore.

Regular plans suck... effin expensive.. try to get a plan coorporativo (as if you were selling minutes).. much cheaper and generally same price for all providers and fijos.

When I was with Comcel, you would get 50k bonus for a 50k card.

I never recharge on Movistar unless I get double minutes (usually every Tuesday or Wednesday they offer double minutes for smaller value cards).

I started with Comcel and I remember asking about postpago and they said no.

I ended up on Movistar and after a while on prepago, they called me up and offered a switch to postpago. In the end I tried it for a couple of months and then ditched it... too complicated and not a dramatically better deal.

If you really want to screw a good deal out of them, tell them you want to leave postpago and go back to prepago. They made me a series of 3 different offers not to switch, each one better than the last. I said no every time because postpago was too inconvenient.

"this may seem a strange post but it is not...when in colombia men need to be aware that colombia women may try to be seductive and entice a travelling gringo to have sex with them..to be forewarned is to be forearmed..." -- pow wow

it took me five years living in colombia before anyone would give me a cellphone in postpago... a real headache that one...finally this year a movistar person called up and offered me three on a corporate rate.... 900 minutes for about 100.000 pesos and two at 500 minutes for 62.000 pesos.... id check with movistar.. i believe they have some plans that require no background checks...

With comcel you can nominate your fav number on a prepaid phone and obtain the first 5 minutes free (call as many times as u like as long as u hang up before 5 minutes) - saved me a heap of dula with my gf. Doesnt help much though I spose if you have multiple people you have to call all the time.

Investment Strategy - buying when others are crying!! Offloading when others are gloating!!!

I have movistar and tigo - and movistar wins hands down with the bonus minutes - sometimes 10,000 gives me as much as 40,000. And calls to the US are pretty cheap if I'm out in the boonies and don't have wifi access.
