Cedula as ID??

Does anybody know if i can cross the boarder into Ecuador with only my cedula as ID? I am a foreign citizen but dont want to carry my passport with in case of theft/loss etc. I know Colombians can do this but would they want to see my visa on re-entry?

Passport Use the passport. You're going into a different country. The only thing that EVER should be used for international travel is the Passport.

ACBlessing:
The Cédula is the Colombian ID card.
For citizens: Cédula Ciudadanía
For foreigners: Cédula Extranjería (with resident status).

God Bless America!
