How is the bus ride, besides being LONG? Safe?

miamimike says on Feb 26, 2007, 05:10: In '95 I did this Bus Trip; I was On the Road a Week however I stopped a few days along the way in couple small towns. The Bus drivers took a lot of high risk chances on windy mountain roads like blind passing, excessive speed, brakes about to fail. One night the Driver lost his Head lights so he found a Buddy Bus Driver at a rest stop and off we roared in the night, our driver following his Buddy's little red tail lights who had Headlights, both driving like two Fools bumper to bumper down those curvy mountain roads. We survived, I saw a lot of the Col country including the Breathtaking Andes as we crossed over the summit, the Clouds actually on the road. Would I do it that way again? No way! I took the Plane back to Bogota on my return leg. A few days later, one of the Buses from the same company full of passengers did not make it and it went over a cliff, 26 passengers Killed and many gravely injured. Ya take your chances, as Clint Eastwood said "Do you feel Lucky?" "Wait a minute. What did you just say? You're predicting $4-a-gallon gas? That's interesting. I hadn't heard that." -- Feb. 28, 2008 --George W. Bush, Washington, D.C. 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

What did you just say? You're predicting $4-a-gallon gas? That's interesting. I hadn't heard that." -- Feb. 28, 2008 --George W. Bush, Washington, D.C. 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

Tulua to Bogota, and when your heart stopped racing for those view moments that the bus was traveling on a straight course, for at least a hundred yards ahead, you could actually enjoy the fantastic scenery out of the windows. Most of the journey however was seeing the red led display, mounted on the back side of the driver partition, flashing on almost constantly, indicating that the driver was exceeding the recommended speed limit and praying as these kamakazi drivers would make passes around blind curves without even blinking their eyes. The bus itself was quite nice and had all the latest features like television, bathroom and food although we brought our own snacks. I would not recommend this method of travel to anyone. unless you think that jumping off the side of a mountain with an umbrella is a thrilling experience.
