Las Americas and Hotel Caribe has a package as well too. Las Americas is probably the closest thing to the 'all inclusive experience" with great pools too. Hotel Caribe has a better more central location, more character and really cool architecture but there are animals (in cages) and others running around the hotel property just in case that bothers you. The pool is small (bigger than Decameron though I believe).

AT good point. Las Americas is really pretty inside. Have you been? I've never stayed there but only gate crashed when I needed the bathroom LOL.

well, we're 2 guys there for the pagaent and to party. ive spent 3 weeks in cartagena the last 2 years i went. the decameron wouldnt please everyone but for the money,food,drinks its hard to beat. how far is las americas from bocagrande. and isnt caribe on the way past san. martin towards laguito? thx again!

Well I wasn't hungry at the time, I was busy drinking beer and eating those coconut cookies (gross combo I know but soooo good). I'll have to remember that if I'm ever looking to splurge. I didn't mind the food at Caribe. They did a bad ass steak that was awesome.

Decameron Cartagena isn't very nice IMHO -likewise the beach. Las Americas is much nicer. But my selection would be Caribe since I like the most traditional look. But Decameron/Caribe isn't right on the beach. Santa Marta Decameron is actually pretty nice too. But if you are in Santa Marta, Irotoma to me is top notch and one of the best resorts. Many like the Zuana here but my preference is the Irotoma.

El Dann Carlton - Cartagena is very nice and they do over an all inclusive if I recall correctly. Newly remodeled rooms, nice pool and get lounge area in the beach. Check it out.

I stayed at the Decameron. I thought it was a pretty good deal. It was only 120 per night for 2 people you can't beat it. Yeah the beaches suck but that isn't their fault.

Thanks Miguel, I did look at the site and for 3 nights in Dec. it would be about 850US. for two ( my wife and I) which is more then I wanted to spend. I have stayed at the Decameron twice before and like Clyde found it to be a good deal. Two years ago I paid 100 a night through a special on Expedia.com. Having looked several times this year the price has stayed at 160. I think I will stay there again because really like going to their island Baru and the San Pedro restaurant which is included.

If you have the time maybe you can see if the local price is any different at the DeCameron. Our dates would be 12/17-12/20 (3 night, 4 days). Thanks!

Corey, bad news.......looks like it will be $1,605,000 cpo for the 3 days....which includes taxes and breakfast. (at 1916 exch rate, about $838 USD)....problem is its HIgh Season here, AND a the week before Christmas.....now i see why people rent out their apts and rooms.....HMMMMMM......but after years end, Brians will probably snitch me off if i rent less than 30 days.....crap.

More bad news Corey...Decameron no longer goes to Baru...sucks ass because that was the best excursion for the money out there. Of course you can still get there with someone else, but the Decameron isn't doing it :-(

Ouch that is bad news, a couple years ago paid about 25 dollars per person if I remember right. That included food, drinks and the boat ride over there. Might look into staying at another hotel.

Las Americas is chill and the food is so good! Nothing fancey, but I told my girlriend they have the best seafood in the whole town.
Recommended: rent a car and drive around, Cartagena is fun and the people are wild. Also, the police are nice and a hint: have some cold sodas for them and they will remember you if you need assistance.
