Carnivale

Hey,

Another quick question.

I just came across a carnival festival in Barranquilla around the end of Feb. Does anyone know if this co-incides with the Brazilian carnival?

Where would be the best place to celebrate "carnivale"?

Cheers
Duncan

yes.. as far as I know it's the same dates. I was a t Carniva last year in Barranquilla... I loe Barranquilla.. but I thoguht VCarnival wa skind of boring. A few days of parades.. peopel in the stands... nothing special.. maybe it's all about the parites or where you go after the parades.. but Carnival itself in Barranquilla.. nothing like I was expecting. I cant imagine Brazils carnival being anything like Barranuqillas. Id actaully rate Marde Gras in New Orleans 10 fold over Barranquilas Carnival.. except the fact that I love the Barranquilleras.. but yo can have that any day of the week in Barranquilla.. no needofr Carnival to se hot Barranquilleras

Miguel I didnt mean it that way, sorry to offend :)

What i meant was that i would prefer to celebrate carnivale with local people rather than other "gringos" from the hostel/hotel?

Entiende?

Carnaval is the same date the world over. Carnaval was originally created as a pagan celebration leading up to ash wednesday and on to lent period on the Catholic calendar. The big days for Carnaval will be the last weeked and up to the tuesday evening before ash wednesday, which this year is on 25-28th of February. Try www.carnavaldebarranquilla.org for more info.
