Carnaval del pueblo, the biggest colombian outdoor festival in the UK is here once again attracting over 80,000 visitors. The main stage will be full of Colombian music from around the country and other parts of latin America,Three further stages will host music from Brazil, Mexico and the Andean countries. The salsa show will feature the UK salsa competition, dance classes and performances.

The massive funfair, food from around the world and great activities for kids will be here too!

Every year, Noticias Latin America (NLA), the UK's premier Spanish mother tongue newspaper, has celebrated its birthday via salsa dance displays, orchestras, D'Js and stunning models, including 'Carnival Latin America'. (Paradise Park, Islington in 1995). Since 1997, Nuala Riddalle, Director of the Latino Arts organization, champion of our cultural heritage, has worked at local government level to create understanding and communicate the recreational needs of the Latin American community. The first 'Carnaval del Pueblo' , (Southwark Park, 1999), presented London-based latin American bands, dancers and orchestras. Nuala Baile and Luis Mario Tasama , (Director NLA), have worked relentlessly to deliver ever increasingly sophisticated version of the ' Carnaval del Pueblo ', bringing worlds class orchestras such as El Grupo Niche (2000 ) Colombia, Oscar D'leon (2001) , Venezuela, Willie Colon (2002 ) Puerto Rico, A dalberto Santiago (2002) , Lizandro Meza (2003 ) Colombia and Henry Fiol (2003) New York, supported by Soutwark Council, London Arts, Awards for All and the Colombian Embassy.

EXOTIC FLOAT PARADE IN SOUTH LONDON STREETS

+ 5 STAGES IN THE PARK

Procession leaves The Mayor's office, City Hall, Tooley Street, SE1 at 12 pm – past London Bridge, down Borough High Street, left into Walworth Road and left again into Albany Road and Burgess Park at 3:00 pm.
Floats and dance rhythms inspired by the carnivals of Brazil , Bolivia , Colombia , Cuba , El Salvador , Mexico and Peru amongst others.

Carnaval del Pueblo (CDP) will be a 10 hour-long, exotic, FREE , family event welcoming babies through to grand parents! Dance, music and carnival activities will be enjoyed in a peaceful and stimulating Latin American cultural context. The carnival has a history of attracting world-class stars including the Grupo Niche, Oscar D'León , Willie Colón , Adalberto Santiago, Henry Fiol and Gilberto Santa Rosa - the salsa greats as well as Lizandro Mesa, Mauricio y Palodeagua .

Joe Arroyo
A world-renowned musician making one of his rare public performances on the international circuit. Joe has enormous talent and charisma, and has been active as a singer, composer, and music arranger since the age of 14. He created his own musical style called ‘The Johnson'. His music is happy, danceable and above all completely Caribbean with a unique and instantly recognisable sound in his salsa, cumbia and porro numbers.

bought my colombian flag and bandana yesterday that's me all sorted for tomorrow! all day at the carnival and viejoteca at chaney or baracoa after that! I'll be dancing salsa and reggaeton all day tomorrow eating empanadas and drinking Aguardiente Blanco del Valle all day! Can't wait!
