Carnaval de Barranquilla!

Greetings! Quick question for the Colombia experts. When are the exact dates for the Carnaval de Barranquilla. I have read it is the four days preceding Ash Wednesday. Is that true? I had to scrap my plans for Colombia over the Christmas holidays due to hurricane Wilma. So I will head down for a few days of Carnaval then head on to Santa Marta. Viva Colombia!
