Car Rental in Medellin

I was wondering if anyone knew the minimum age for car rentals in medellin? I'm 21 and will be in medellin for a week or so. If anyone knows please fill me in.

Why would you want to rent a car in MDE? If you don't know the city well, do not do it.

Car rental in Medellin I do not agree with the earlier poster, I always rent cars in Colombia and i think Medellin is not that complicated. A car gives you just great freedom of travel.

A problem might be your age, I know that Hertz normally does not rent out to individuals under 23 year but you might want to check the other operators.

Other issue you have to consider is the very high price of Colombian car rentals, you are paying substantial more money and get worser cars then you expect in the US and Europe.

why bother with a car in medellin is better to be as free as possibble so you can just relax instead of finding a parking place. besides, taking a cab not only is cheap but also very easy and reliable.

I think I'm just going to stick to a taxi... I read on an earlier post that taxi's weren't safe for americans, but I will be with my colombiana girlfriend and know Im safe w/ her. besides, I am very mexicano looking so I don't think I will stick out as american : ) even tho i am... anyways ill save the rental money ($500 a week ive heard? at !!) ill save the money and take them out on some nice dinners :) thanks again...

Taxis are more safe My Paisa novia hails taxis during the day without hesitation, and I have GRINGO tattooed on my forehead. At night you could have a taxi called for you. They will give you the number of the taxi sent for you.

Don't overlook the Metro and the autobus.

With my US driving habits, I would be killed in short order trying to drive in MDE.
