canadian novice

I am a canadian 45 going to colombia in sept. I would like to know if it is safe to visit cali on my own? I dont wear jewerly or even a watch. My main purpose is to see a new country and maybe meet a nice lady. I wish to move to central america or south america within the next few years and would appreciate any info as to where the safest locale would be? I am not a overweight gringo looking for a twenty year old i am a competing bodybuilder and look 35. I have researched cartagena and barranquilla on this site but cali or medellin intrest me i always keep a low profile and dont do drugs any honest ideas would be nice. I am not a fear monger and have met many nice people from colombia

Check out Costa Rica I haven't been to Colombia yet (going in April) but I have lived in Costa Rica. I've heard that it is similar in many aspects, especially the friendly people. Just don't stay in San Jose CR, get out to the beach cities or the other large cities. Wonderfull country.
