Can I overstay by just a few days?

I have a flight booked out of Bogota that leaves about a week after my tourist visa expires. Do I get an extension or can I wing it?

You have to get an extension. I've heard of DAS giving free extensions for a few days for people with flights in the next 2-3 days -- but for a week I bet you have to get the full extension.

To do it in Medellin, go to any GNB SUDAMERIS bank branch and pay $60,400, give them this number [ #63017784 Codigo 103 ]. Take the receipt, 4 passport size photos, 2 copies of the first page of your passport, 2 copies of the page with the entry stamp to DAS, and 2 copies of your plane ticket or itinerary. Go early in the morning.

Do not show up at the airport with a week overstay, they will send you to DAS and you will miss your flight.

wing it and play the "no hablo español muy bien" y" no entiendo todos sus palabras" however at all times look nervous and confused using gracias muy amable often and where appropriate señor o señora, then tell them your consulate never informed you of this error, pay compliments, tell them you love colombia, Juanes,Shakira,Carlos Vives, vallenato. salsa, la gente, la clima, empanadas, tamales, frijoles, arroz, denounce Chavez and if its 6 am or 6 pm just stand up in a rather formal rigid stance and put your right hand on your chest ignoring everything and everybody around you and look to the sky and mouth silently your favourite bob marley song or hotel california, or any thing by Boney M, worked for me

Then you might also try, " Yo tengo un amigo mas importante en la embajada de los Estados Unidos. ¿Asesinado¿ ¡Bueno, Bueno! El puerco capitalista mereció morir. ¿Dige veinte dólares? ¡Quise decir cincuenta!El carcel es magnífico. Mucho major que me habiticón del hotel."
I have a very important powerful friend at the American embassy. Assassinated? Good! Good! The capitalist pig deserved to die. Did I say $20? I meant $50. Nice jail you got. Much better than my hotel room.

Seriously best take care of it ahead of time with DAS. Don't bluff at the airport-it won't work.

A salvo conducto shouldn´t leave a little black mark on your passport.

What I have, I do not want to lose, but Where I am I do not want to stay, but those I love, I do not want to leave, but those I know I no longer want to see, but Where I die, I do not want to go;I want to stay where I have never been

I've heard from others that you pay a $3500 peso fine for each day you overstay. I have no reason to disbelieve my friends that told me this. But I dunno.

"durito...

How about coming back and telling us, especially the good people above who helped you what actually happened on yoru way out of Colombia?

Thanks"

I don't follow. I got an extension at DAS (and another one every month since). On a trip home last Christmas I left and came back without issue.

I believe the fine varies based on the time of day, mood, gender, and any other number of factors of the particular DAS office you visit. I'm sure there's an official amount though.
