Can a Gringo get a gun, legally in Colombia?

I plan on buying a penthouse. I would like a gun to protect my family.

Yes, the paperwork is a headache but it is possible. You will need a cedula but you should already have that if you are buying property.

Fred its not a headache...if you are serious...you need to get all your documents together and go to Indumil...the process will be about 2-3 months to get your documents and then depending on what gun you what another 1-2 months if the gun is not in stock...check out this site it has been beaten to death

I have had legal guns for many years. I am just saying it is a pain in the ass to get. I like to walk into the store, put down my cash, and walk out with a gun in my pocket. That is how it should be.

car1 what I meant by buying on the street was buy an illegal gun for 200,000 ...which we all know what happens if you caught with that gun in public...at indumil you can buy anything for less than I think 3,000,000 could be more by now..when I got my permit I didn't have to pay anyone one off I went to indumil and did all the processes they told me to do.....I had to do a couple of thing twice because they are a bunch boners

I plan on buy a Mazda 6 series and driving around Medellin. Also I think the drive to and from the airport can be a problem. I hope I never have to use it!

You think you need a gun for the drive out to Rio Negro? Give me a break. This is paranoia taken to its most extreme.
