Not in the city, as far as I know.

As for outside, once you get *really* outside, to other towns, yes. But remember, Bogota is a LARGE city. The outside areas are, as in many large cities, much poorer than the centre.

Poor but snappy

Yes, you can!. There are so many places around the paza de los martires, I have seen so many people sleeping on the street around there. Then, you do not even need a tend, just an sleeping bag or some news papers to cover your self as they do.

This is just spanglish, please do not correct me

Ice, you said you are about six people, if you are on an low budget then try to camp at the several humedales in Bogotà, the only think would be maybe the police on your behind and the neighbors complaining, But humedales are big and we got many that you can easily stay at a different place every day. Now that would be real backpacking or traveling.

I went to Rio Claro, they have camp sites, hostals and hotel.

I think it is around 4 to 6 hours from Bogota. I came from Medellin and it was around 3-4 hours via car. It is more fun if you go in a group. Water rafting, tubing, kayak, cave explorering, cable rides, and other stuff to be had.

I think San Gil maybe better. You can check it out. Good luck.

Thanks again every one! webmanco what are 'humedales'? No offense to any one but aren't most of the people sleeping in the streets bums (homeless)?? Was that sarcastic?
humedales sound like a great idea as soon as I figure out what they are. LOL

Wetlands.

I'd strongly advise you to opt for the dormroom in a hostel if you can't find a suitable apt.

Or If you can't afford Bogota then better to skip it rather than be miserably far away from everything.
