Calling embassy using Pin # for K-1 visa appt.date

I used some of the methods learned from members of this board and VJ about submitting Packet 3 before receiving it. This saves time espically since Packet 3 has a way of not always showing up on time or at all. My question is how long should I wait before calling to see if I got my appointment for April (checked the new March appt.times and I'm not on there.)That's assuming I can call at all to find my appointment time. Is it worth a try? I need as much time to plan ahead (work, plane tickets) because I am going to the interview with my fiance. Any advise would be helpful. Anyone called the pin number before and inquire at the embassy if a K-1 interview date has been assigned?

Thanks in advance.

The Embassy telephone will not answer any specific question, they only answer general questions. Which means they are no help at all.

Good luck,

This is an topic I am going through also. I think the dat in which they set the interviews for the following month is around the 20th each month. My application was approved on the 3rd of MArch and if I receive my notice from the Visa Center with my case number fast, I will submit my papers before that date.

Visa Information If you go to www.visajourney.com and then go to The Foreign Embassy and Consulate General Discussion section you will find various threads that I have written and used; tracking package from NVC, short cuts on getting your interview in one or two months less and a lot more information. My user name is the same as here.

What you need to fax and send by courier (Servientrega) is; a copy of the beneficiary passport, OF-169, DS-2001 and DS-230 part 1.

The cut-off for the U.S. Embassy is not the 20th of the month. I spoke with them and they told me it varies from month to month depending on the workload. The cut-off is between the 16th and the 20th of the month.

All I have stated here and much more I have posted on VJ. Read and educate yourself.

Good luck,

Process and Short-Cuts Hi sjt2250,

I do not know your timeline so here is synapses. Find out when your petition left NVC (call them) then track your package through www.dhl.com (the tracking instructions, I have them posted on VJ). Then once you know the package got to the U.S. Embassy in Bogota from NVC wait a couple of days and fax and send by courier; a copy of the passport, OF-169, DS-2001 and DS-230 part 1. This will save you one to two months on the interview time. If the Embassy receives the documents I have stated above before the cut-off date (read what I posted on my other post before this one) before the cut-off date your interview will be the following month. If it is after it will be the month after that. The good thing is that if is a couple of days after the cut-off your interview will be in the beginning of that following month. Hope you understand if not read my post on VJ.

Good luck,

Peter Miami

Jlove,

Read what I wrote everyone use to say the cut-off date was the 20th of the month, that is wrong. I sent my documents on the 18th of the month and i did not get the interview for my fiancée the following month, she got it the month after that. Then I spoke with a couple of employees from the Embassy and I got the real cut-off date. Read what I wrote about that in this thread.

Good luck,
