Well, i've been teaching English for sometime now... though only for a few months in Medellin. Perhaps, we would all benefit by sharing some of our experiences.
I would be interested to know...
How much do you make per hour here for private classes?
Do you tend to get your own clients or are you being paid by a company?
Do you have many problems with clients cancelling classes?
Thanks
Usher

I tried private classes here in Armenia, people don't show up, don't pay, etc. I wouldn't come to Colombia to teach English unless maybe it was a really big city. curramberochris says on Oct 3, 2007, 15:26: 25,000 an hour is a very good rate for informal classes. Unless you find some wealthy families in need of classes you won´t find many people prepared to pay more than that for English classes. Doesn´t matter if they are foreigners or not......

bufalo says on Oct 4, 2007, 20:27: No offense, but really what is a contract good for? You can't sue them or anything, and how much would it cost you to do so? 25,000 and hour is good (I mean it should be more than that, but you're lucky if you get 20.000). usher127 says on Oct 5, 2007, 12:08: Yup... ok, so a contract is an extreme measure... but even though its ultimately useless, i know if I was asked to sign one, I would be less tempted to steal clients from someone. Every little helps.

Who was talking about suing... you can get a contact with the paracos to send an hitman if they do not respect the contract! :-) "I am a citizen of the most beautiful nation on earth.
