RE:Cali to Pereira Harry

It is very easy to travel from Cali to Periera. The cheepest way is via bus, or micro bus. There is a bus that will leave about every hour, during the day from the Cali bus terminal to Pereira. The cost is around 20,000 COP and the travel time is about 3 hours.

Pereira has an airport but I think it is not possible to fly direct from Cali to Pereira. Of course traveling by air is much more expensive.

Looks like that region has a lot going for it
I'm thinking the region between Cali and Medellin.

Take the Bus Thousands do everyday with no problem. Cost is right around 14.000 COPs (about $6.00 USD) on Expreso Palmira . That will let you ride one of the "super" buses or the smaller Metro bus which is about the size of a typical car rental pickup bus you see at the USA airports. The Metro buses leave on the hour and run from about 7: a.m. until 6:00 p.m. Lots of companies make this trip, Expreso Bolivariano and Flota Magadalina freom the central bus station downtown. Since it is about 250 km (150 miles) you are not going to make it in three hours. The bus route will take you through some beautiful areas so leave early in the morning. The major cities on the route are Palmira, Buga, Tulua, Cartago and on into Pereira. The route runs between two mountain ranges

BTW I would NOT pay much attention to some one like "jpagm." He has only been a member for a little over a day and it, at least to me, is obvious he really does not know much about Colombia( sniff, sniff, do I smell a troll?). "No le hagas caso a ese tonto."

Have a wonderful trip and a la orden,

Droque, I have no idea about the region to Pereira from Cali, and I am not even Colombian, have only been there once, however, unless you look Colombiano, I'd think twice about taking a bus to Pereira. Plus, if you got dollars, euros, yens, etc, sure you can afford a plane ticket. Good Luck!

Cali - Pereira... Personally, I wouldn't hesitate to take the bus. Great trip, through a very large urbanized aerea, El Valle Del Cauca. I used to take that trip in the early 60s, when I was in boarding school in Santa Rosa de Cabal, the next town up from Pereira and lived in Cali.

For flights in Colombia, I go to the aerocivil page of the Colombian gvt; then I click Aerorepública.

I flew Aerorepública Cali-Bogotá-Cali back in Sept at subtantial savings over Avianca.

Angel_Gabriel,

If you have no idea about this region then why are you even commenting? I've taken buses between Pereira and Cali several times and the trip has always been great, with good roads and spectacular scenery. I suggest the S26 buses, very nice and modern.

Agree, ColombianoX Why would he even make a comment based upon no local knowledge and one trip to Colombia? Made the trip there and to Cartago many times and other than a break down once never a problem plus what does a Colombino look like? Oh, yeah, now I remember, he's the hombre with the sombrero and poncho, holding the mule-Juan something? Just grow a moustach and you can pass.

Columbus X & Gato, sorry Gator! My deepest apologies mates, you are right!!! I shouldn't have commented in a place I've no idea about however a comment guarded with caution does not hurt anyone unless you personally get disturbed by it. Cheers Amigos!

Mil Gracias, Angel_Gabriel Not to often you see an appology. Might I suggest your advice would be more helpful if you recommended the individual seek local advice before venturing out.

Best wishes,

here in Cali I went to Pereira on Sunday and came back on Tuesday. Took the buses. To Pereira was the Expreso Trujos (I think), 15,000 pesos. Small little bus but the driver (young guy) drove like a maniac. Coming back I took the S26, same price but big bus. They have a movie and much more relaxing. Thanks for all the info.
