Cali to Cartagena

Is it possible to get from Cali to Cartagena on an overnight bus. If so, what companies, how much, comfort etc.... Need some help on this one. I will be traveling from Peru to San Diego by land and this leg of the journey needs to be figured out.

Go Cali to Medellin, then Medellin to Cartagena, you can do it in 2 days if nothing crazy happens along the way. Its brutal though, best to take a few days and check out Medellin and then head to the coast. The bus's are more comfortable than any greyhound I have been on. Its not exactly the most direct route to San Diego though? I took the Tica bus from Panama City to Guatamala city, then bus's through Mexico to Tijuana, Greyhound from San Diego to Seattle, picked up my car there and drove to Anchorage. Sounded good on paper bro, but it was really kind of a suffer fest of epic proportions that I will never ever ever repeat or recommend. Be prepared to have the biggest ass and back pain in history.

Hey, careful, man, there's a beverage here!

I went Ciudad Juarez to Panama City on the bus. Took the best buses available. An agonizingly long and brutal journey that this man will never repeat - ever!! Cali to Cartagena is not dooable in one stretch. You must change in Medellin. Buy one of those donut hole pillows because your butt is going to need all of the TLC you can provide.

I have done it. First, from Cali to Medellin, a long ride but not bad at all. Then you can get right on a bus to Cartagena, or break the journey for a day or more. It's two long bus rides but it's well worth it, value for money, you'll see a lot of Colombia, have meals in some real typical roadside restaurants, save a bunch of money over the airfare. If your Spanish is OK you can make friends with other passengers, or even fall in love!

Do Cali - Medellin during the daytime, for the scenery. 10 hours.

Medellin - Cartagena is not that interesting. 14 hours.

que nota!

the bus terminal in Cali is really big with lots of bus services. they usually have service every hour to medellin. i agree, take a bus to medellin and tour the city for a day or two before taking the bus to cartagena. busses are cheap in colombia and a great way to see the countryside.
