Your post is a litle stupid in the sense that we do not know what you want in either place? No offense intended mind you! My wife is from Cali and it was the first place I went to in Colombia. Had I to do it over again I would never go to Cali but rather Bogota, Cartagena and San Andres and maybe Santa Marta. Cali has sexta avenida for clubs but not much else.

Do you want girls and parties and dancing? Cali has some of that but not much else? There is alittle zoo there but San Jose has that too! Costa Rica is a zoo full of animals. Want ecotourism and rain forests? Then Costa Rica is where you want to be. Las prepagos? (Hookers?) You can find those anyway if you look hard enough.

What do you want anyway?

Well I prefer Cali, but my buddy that I regularly travel with is hell bent on San Jose. I dont know a thing about San Jose, but I know what to expect in Cali. I am not concerned with prepagos because I am still young and handsome(LOL), but I just want to relax, have fun, and leave the stress of work.

Why not compromise, instead of going back to Cali, check out Medellin.
I will say though having been checking flights from Florida to Colombia recently, airfare is a lot cheaper to CR. Medellin has gotten very expensive to get to even from Florida.

Not much in San Jose, big city but not overly attractive, does have some clubs and pretty women. Stick with Colombia,One other suggestion I know a lot of the people on this board will disagree but you might look into my favorite - Panama City

Hi, I from Cali and have lived in San Jose - Costa Rica for about 3 years. There is nothing special to do in San Jose, this city is really boring and very ugly... if you're planning going for encology to the volcanoes or beaches they are close the capital San Jose (about 6 hours my car) and it is really interesting, the volcanoes are AWESOME... but!! Cali and San Jose are totally different things, the only one similar thing is that in both places they speak kind of spanish. hehe.

if you enjoy places like HOTEL DEL REY in San Jose, that means that you're getting old or the life has gone... The last time I been there a girl was crying the whole night because of I recognized her from my hometown.
