Cali, Aqui estoy!!!

Finally, i made it safely to cali and have rented a studio apt right near calle 6 and am looking forward to the good times! i can´t be right yet, but my first impression of cali is dirty and full of hustlers and sharks! Does everything around here really shut down at like 2am, where do the meseros go after work to hang out?? any after hours bars full of chill colombians?? seriously, what´s the deal around here?

hate to break the news to you.. but cali has very little nightlife OUTSIDE of the weekend. On weekend, the party area is still around avienda sexta, packed w/ people. The south of cali has some decent malls, but many close around 11pm. You COULD go to Juanchito(but that's slightly outside the city border, and slightly dangergous) they have bars that open till 4am..

i've spent over 2 months in cali last year. it's not what i would call a party city. if you have a friend(s) in cali, then it's you can have a very fun time with your friend(s).. you can take quick 3-5 hr bus ride to small towns around cali during the week, and come back to cali on the weekend.

Cali in Oct Arriving Cali 10/6, first time to Colo, several times to Mexico, looking for something different. Late 40s gringo, enough spanish to get by, Colo beer, Colo rum and coke, sightseeing and chasing some girls. Any advice appreciated. Like to spend 2 or 3 days in Cali, go to beach area for 10 days and then back to Cali for last 2 or 3 days before flying home. Avenue Sexta in Cali sounds like to place to be close too. I read somewhere to grab a Collectivo at the Cali airport and it will take you to the bus station & then you can taxi to Ave Sexta area. Is this worth the savings?, or too much hassle? Any comments on anything appreciated, already browsing the site and finding great info. Thanks.

DEPENDS ON WHAT TIME YOUR FLIGHT COMES IN AND HOW TIRED YOU ARE,, I AM NOT SURE ON THE BUS TIMES. I WOULD WALK OUT GRAB A CAB AND HEAD OUT. THE RIDE WILL COST ABOUT 20 TO 30 BUCKS BUT YOUR NOT SITTING THERE WAITING FOR SOMEONE TO LOAD 5K LBS OF CRAP THEY BROUGHT BACK TO COLOMBIA FROM THE STATES. I AM TIRED AFTER THE FLIGHT TO COLOMBIA AND AM READY TO GET MY STUFF TO MY ROOM AND SHOWER, GET A BITE TO EAT AND CHILL. NOT CHEAPER THAT WAY BUT YOU DO SAVE SOME TIME. AND IF YOU CAN GO IN THE FIRST PLACE THEN 20 BUCKS IS NOT GOING TO KILL YOU, AND IF IT DOES JUST THINK YOU COULD HAVE SPENT ALL YOUR MONEY ON RUM AND WOMEN CAUSE YOU CAN'T TAKE IT WITH YOU. HAVE A SAFE FUN TRIP...

thanks. yea, why mess with collectivo, I will be worn out from 3 flights and ready to hit the room for a bit and then hit the town. this guy on here has some apts for 70K a night and a finders fee, 3 blocks to Ave sexta, safe walk he says. at least I get in on fri night when things might be happening...rum and coke and see what the ladies are like. visit the mall on sat I suppose.
