Piapo are your parents traveling with Colombian passport? do they have already their visa? if so I am asking you this question because i want to take them to France in July when they come to see me in the UK but I don't know what they need to obtain the French Visa, and it is difficult?

and that´s exactly what kat´s parents will need to travel to France, a Schengen-Visa. (for stays up to 90 days, good for travel within all Schengen countries.

What I have, I do not want to lose, but Where I am I do not want to stay, but those I love, I do not want to leave, but those I know I no longer want to see, but Where I die, I do not want to go;I want to stay where I have never been

Hard to tell... A friend of mine applied and was denied at first, granted after she got married to her French now husband. But she did not have a job but some real estate in her name. She said they (Colombianas at the French embassy) were pretty rude to her and not at all interested in her paperwork. She did have an invitation fom his parents as well as a copy of a letter stating that the French Republic ows him a favor for services rendered. I very much hope this will be different for your parents. It might help if you can show hotel/transport reservations I assume.

My mum have been in the UK before my dad believe or not never so this is a birthday present for him!!

I am sure they will get the UK visa, they had the USA visa but they never used it, this might help... but with the French being French uhmmm They own properties in Colombia, they are both retired lawyers.

I can't show transport, hotel reservation etc, because we don't know when we are going and we are planing to do a tour of France, so we don't know specifically were we are going to be

Honestly I believe they should not have a problem getting the visa, I would be disappointed otherwise. Especially having US and UK visas in the passport should help big times. It proves that they, unlike their doughter ;-) have returned home from previous trips abroad.

since your dad has never been to the UK, maybe wearing a tinfoil hat would help.

Myself, I sent funds to the family where they purchased locally in Colombia from an agency...was actually a bit cheaper than what I could find on the net. Nowadays, one needs to present a passport/Credit card of the user etc just to match up all the data, is getting pretty crazy.
Also heard this past week that airlines now only allow 1 checked baggage or major $$ if more than 1. Anyone heard any different?

I would do what lampltr suggests. For one thing, they can often hold the reservation without you actually having to pay for the ticket -- useful in the unlikely event that the visa is not granted. The agency may even be able to arrange the visa for your parents -- embassies can be unpleasant places, and you could spare them from that ordeal.

Flights from Colombia to Europe are, yes, unfortunately only piece of checked luggage. You can still get two if you go via the US, but then you need another visa, and some patience at immigration.
