buying a new car in miami and getting it to colombia

Being in a wheelchair my mobility is limited. I am thinking of buying a car in Miami set-up with hand controls for use here in Rodadero. The car would be new with a clear title/no lien. What would the procedure be for importing and license here in Santa Marta. Does anyone know the tarrif costs? What the cost of full coverage insurance is here? Is Florida driver license good here?.........thank you

Why in God's name would you want to do that? Tinto about says it all. Between the price of shipping the car and the import tariffs, not to mention the hassle, I have to believe that in the end it will cost you more than if you were to buy it there in Colombia

Costs in Bogotá.... Toyota Corolla from 54.000.000 ($23,500 USD)
Fiat Siena ELX from 32.500.000 ($14,500)
Honda Accord V6 from 126.900.000 ($55.000 US)
Mazda top of the line 70.000.000 ($30.500 usd)

Best selling models are the Corsa Active $28.400.00, Chevrolet Optra 1.4 $50.000.000 , Renault Symbos Alizé $34.000.000, Renault Twingo U $26.300.00, Renault Clio Dynamique $34.000.000.

Much depends on options but these are the base prices.

Your best bet is to purchase the equipment in say Miami and have it installed in Colombia-too much expense and hassle to import a car-but I have heard the rules may be relaxed.

You will have to buy mandatory insurance to provide health car for someone you hit about $160 USD a year, you should also get private insurance which is high about $450 a year but this covers things like theft, etc.. Lots of little costs like a tax on the value of the car which can run $85/100 a year.

If you thought Rodadero was crazy..... I want to do the same thing, but I live in London!!! I want to buy a mini cooper S convertible. Mini isn't in Colombia yet. (They are in Venezuela but their prices are dear) I have designed my own mini and the freight company are going to fly it from the miami show room to Bogotá. What kind of problems should I expect to run into??

convertible? Is it too late to rethink the convertible part of the equation?

Extremely high taxes (tariff, iva, etc.) Be prepared to pay up bro! I believe the S version is taxed at a higher rate too because (correct me if i'm wrong) it's a 2.0
