They say one of the best businesses to start in Colombia is a love motel. Most Colombians live with their family. Novios need a place to go for some privacy.

Hey Morphus, there are little hotels like that in Bogota. I saw one place brightly lit up in blue neon late at night near primero de Mayo. I asked my wife, "is that a Whiskeria", and she told me no, and explained that it was a hotel that novios go to when ... the time is right. But I agree with you, it is a great idea. It often crossed my mind where do people go to have sex. Family is almost contstantly around - at least in any of my wife's family's households. Nobody has cars in my wife's family, so there can't be any cruises out to "look at a finca". They get the job done somehow though ... kids are everywhere.

I'd like to see a Running Gringo show, where a gringo tourist has to navigate thru 10 miles of colombias poorest neighborhood late at night. similair to the running man movie.

there lots of them, even in Villavo.. we usually called them Moteles, on the way to bogota airport you will see few.

I already been though some of the poorest neigborhoods and nothing happened. Then again, maybe i'm just lucky. I grew up in The Bronx and was never mugged. Just a few street fights here and there.

Kat1, I know all about the motels. I just heard it would be a good idea to own one. I have been to a few love motels in the past. There are some nice ones on the outskirts of Cartagena with water coolers, bar, condoms and mirrors on the ceiling. Maybe i'll show you one day :)

Own a Motel and you will never have to work again !! Motels, Liquor stores,Casinos(regardless of their size), Pizza express shops, are some of the most profitable businesses in Colombia, Ah,... and if you run it American style or American standards,there is no doubt in my mind you wil be a millionaire dude!!
