You got to be joking! Just how stupid do you think the people on this site are?

Every post from you is some sort of spam to sell a piece of junk. I hope no one here takes you up on your offers.

Any type of Internet based or computer company has to change its hardware every 2-3 years to stay in business. You are selling a bunch of old obsolete equipment right at the point where it needs to be replaced. You ask $30,000 - $40,000 USD for this GARBAGE. In exchange for this the poor buyer is going to make a whopping whole $700 - $1000 a month if your books are telling the truth!! WOW! I might make my money back in 4 long f at cking years! But you know what, the equipment will be garbage again in 4 years so the real turn around to break even is probably close to 6-7 years! Nice!

Oh, and the whole "absentee owner" thing is HILARIOUS! This is Colombia remember? You really think you can leave a business to be run by a bunch of Colombians and not lose your shirt? HA HA HA!

The reason I am pointing this out is a I AM SICK AND TIRED of all our posts over the years here trying to sell GARBAGE to the members of PBH.

If these businesses can return 20% plus on invested capital I wonder:

1) why the owner is selling a turnkey business that can operate with an absentee owner?

2) if the owner is willing to provide copies of the real estate lease agreements, financial statements, tax returns and the bills from a bookkeeping firm?

The management work of accounting, handling cash/paying vendors and paying taxes might eat up a significant portion of the projected return.

The "lovemedellin website" is a piece of crap made by some moron who has only been to Medellin once...you'd be better off reading the Lonely Planet advice from a guy who never even came here!

I believe medellinmike is not Colombian. So it's not a Colombian thinking he is smart trying to make money out of nothing but another case of gringo gouging by gringos.

The Bar has been in buisness for like 5 years. The present owner(North American) is ASKING 80 million pesos to sell the buisness. He is selling the buisness because he is planing on moving. He says the Bar nets like 5/6 million per mo. during high season and like 2/3 million pesos per mo.during low season.

Tinto (Moderator) says on Sep 16, 2007, 09:07:

I'm guessing that a lot of businesses like the ones described above trade hands at the value of the assets plus something extra (but not much). This is because small business owners either don't have the financial records to show what a business REALLY makes or don't want to show them because they're not reporting all that income to the taxing authorities. Same thing happens in the U.S. and it's probably even more frequent in Colombia.

So, unless you have experience with these types of businesses and know what they can produce, or you have access to financial records that you trust, I'd run away from "great opportunities" that are a huge premium to asset value.

Hey Art - so that bar is still for sale? Why no takers yet? It's a serious question and I am not trying to be a smart-ass.
