Buses San Gil to Bucaramanga

Does anyone know how often buses run between San Gil and Bucaramanga? I know that San Gil sits on the main road from Bogota but I cant track down whether the fast buses stop in San Gil on the way through. We need to be in Bucaramanaga at midday for a flight and would prefer to stay in San Gil the night before if possible and get a bus first thing (if they run early enough). Any advice would be much appreciated.

Most of the buses that travel from Bogota to Bucaramanga stop in San Gil.... From San Gil to Bucaramanga, they seem to travel quite frequently, I think you shouldn't have an issue, it seemed like one was traveling every hour... Just make sure that you request a Direct Bus Line from San Gil to Bucaramanga... you don't want to end up on a bus that stops at every corner to pick up more people.... And don't forget to ask for a discount... There's a big competition for customers, so you can sometimes get a really good deal.... I traveled on Omega from Bogota to San Gil.... They ended up giving us 50% of the original price on an express line... When you arrive in San Gil, just purchase your ticket in advance for the next morning... That way you know what time you can anticipate on leaving....

from san gil take the mins...or van buses its about 13,000 to 15,000 from the treminal in San gil you will find they run about every 1/2 hour.....dont bother with the big buses for such a short ride.....those vans whip around the big trucks and get you to B/manga in about 1 1/2-2 hours....just bring braff bags for the trip long trip down the mountain ....its better than a rollercoaster

Vic... I'd never experienced motion sickness, until traveling by bus in Colombia!.... Good thing for rest stops...

Probably two choices: Berlinas, Copetran fot the big buses or check out one of the vans. The vans are quicker and about the same price

Try these phrases:

Más despacio, por favor

A altas velocidades, me mareo.

Cambiaré la llanta, pero no cuente con una propina.

The curves are dangerous and when the buses over take each other on the andes mountians near chicamocha park, the distance between them in no more than a foot. I don't know how they keep each other away from rubbing each on the sides. The curves will make you sick. I was about to vomit.
The mini vans / buses pass through there frequently. Just get on and pay a small price to go to Bucaramanga. Must bargain.

I hate that road - we had an accident on it in 1993 when the idiot behind us tried to pass on a blind curve. Of course someone was coming but he had already edged ahead and hit the corner of our car as he swerved back into the correct lane. We got pushed into the rock face (thank god not over the cliff).
