You might want to try this website. They do not seem to have everything that you asked about but there are phone numbers to inquire further.

The trip from Bogota to Medellin takes about 24 hours. What do you want to punish your kids for? Just for the sake of crossing a border? Really, people on the other side are not the friendliest.
www.berlinasdelfonce.com takes you to Cucuta on the border. Panamericana which has pretty shitty buses will take you all the way from Bogota to CCS for a premium. Ormeño might do that, too. Don´t do it.

What I have, I do not want to lose, but Where I am I do not want to stay, but those I love, I do not want to leave, but those I know I no longer want to see, but Where I die, I do not want to go;I want to stay where I have never been

Bogotá to Medellín by bus doesn't take 24 hours, jeez.
Expreso Brasilia seems to be the only one offering services from Caracas, but to Cartagena. The other option would be, as said, from Bogotá to Cúcuta which is right on the border (the buscompany Berlinas would be a good choice for that). From there the border and San Cristobal are walkable. Oh, and it's Venezuela.
No bus to Brazil, you'd have to fly from Bogotá to Leticia and from there the border with Brazil is walkable.

Another bus company that goes from Cartagena/Barranquilla/Santa Marta to Caracas is AMERLUJO. They are the same price as Brasilia - a little under 200,000COP .

I will not take any chances to go by bus...

MY NAME IS ANGEL. I AM COLOMBIAN AND LIVED IN CANADA AND THE USA FOR 18 YEARS. I RETURNED TO MEDELLIN AND WOULD LIKE TO OFFER SERVICES AS INTERPRETER/ ESCORT AND DRIVER. I CAN ALSO HELP IN FINDING SHORT TERM APT. RENTALS.

I went almost to the border in November, travelling on my own. I stopped in Bucaramanga before going on to Pamplona (a few hours short of Cucuta & the Venezuelan border).

The Bogota-> Bucaramanga leg was by night on Copetran, then from Bucaramanga I took a minibus to Pamplona. All the other passengers on the minibus were continuing on to Cucuta, and all they could talk about was how they could schlepp cheap LCD TVs back into Colombia from Venezeula.

On the way back I did a collectivo taxi back to Bucaramanga, and then Berlinas back to Bogota, also overnight. Berlinas buses are fancier - but to be honest the last thing I wanted to do at 11:30pm was be watching canned telenovelas, *and* surprisingly the headrests on the Copetran bus were better (they could be positioned better).

I'd reccomend sticking to the major companies and the full-size coaches, and you will be absolutely fine, if a bit tired. Time is what it really boils down to.

If you are doing the Cucuta route, do be sure to arrive in Cucuta during the day, and maybe ask the driver or a ticket rep when you are buying the Bogota-Cucuta trip to suggest a bus company and tell you what to expect fare-wise for the Cucuta-Venezuela trip.

I have taken all the chances to travel by bus to all the major cities of Colombia (except pasto), and usually take a night bus for long rides. nothing ever happened. Could something happen, yes. but isn;t that always the case no matter what part of the world. Also a plane can crash, it has happened.

Smile if you are a thinker!

sorry about the Bogota-Medellin 24 hour statement I made. I certainly meant to say Bogota-Merida by bus takes 24 hours. Again, sorry. Seems like I prefer thinking about Paisas and not Venezuelan rude chicks...
