Bus: From Cali to Barranquilla

I haven't decided which of the above cities I would go this October for 2 weeks vacation. Anyway, if I decided to visit both of these cities, do you know:

1. How to get bus from Cali to Barranquilla?
2. How long is the ride?
3. How much will it cost me?
4. Is it comfortable?

I would probably fly back to Cali, but would like to experience sitting in a bus along with Colombians

Hola!

If I had 2 weeks to spend in Colombia and had the money as you might, I would fly both ways. We flew nonstop from Cali - BQA - Cali last March. Its over 20 hours by bus & 300,000 pesos 1 way! If you want to lose 1 day, then take a bus, since its 2 hours by plane not including airport check in times.

Take a bus to Medellin or Bogota to see Colombians on a long bus ride!

1. How to get bus from Cali to Barranquilla? - at a bus station.
2. How long is the ride? - LONG.
3. How much will it cost me? - too much.
4. Is it comfortable? - not at all.

That is a trip that locals would take to save money. So if you don't need to save money, take a plane for not a whole lot more $$$ but a helluva lot less time wasted!

Actually, I might have missed a row or two of "o's."

In any case, Jumbo, you get the point. Unless you want to visit several places between those two cites (and there's lots to see along that route) then FLY.

Terry

I'll take the bus from Cali to Medellin ........ experience.... and then fly to BAQ.

300,000 peos by bus ??????? That's almost the same price as to fly there!!

One thing pissed me off is to check inside the luggage at airport :(

Police/Army check-stops on the roads also take a look inside your luggage on occasion too...

Does a direct Cali - Barranquilla bus even exist? Can't imagine anyone would want to do that journey in one hit without break, shower time.

Cali - Medellin about 10 hours.
Medellin - Barranquilla, about 16 hours.

That is the lower limit, there is no upper limit due to possible road closures, traffic problems, breakdowns etc.

Most tourists are seriously underwhelmed by Barranquilla. The only reason I would suggest going is if you have family there or excellent hookups to show you around.

que nota!

I think there is a change in Medellin-but not sure.

culo de viaje.............................the route does exist but it´s not very frequent. Maybe once a day. Barranquilla- Bogota is too far for me by bus these days. Plane all the way.
DO you have family here, there are much better places to visit if you are on holiday. Most people only come here on business or to visit family.
you´ll be made very welcome if you do come though!

Curram

Thanks but I think I'll fly to one of these cities from London - not planning to travel from Cali to Barranquilla now.

When I decide to go to Cali, I might visit Medellin or any cities nearer to Cali.
When I decide to go to Barranquilla, I'll visit Cartegane and Santa Marta

Hola!

It's 2 hours from Cali - BQA via plane! Maybe Avianca has a discount that gives a free domestic ticket, but you can only hope during the off season!
