In Manizales in the first part of the new year.

The best part is the week long party.

Yea, the party is about the only thing I like about Bullfights. I have went to only one Bullfight in my Life. Probably will not go to another. It was in PV. MX. Nice day and everybody was amped up. Mostly Turkey Gringo's on vacation. So the Bullfight starts. This Matador dude comes out and Starts doing his gig with the Red flag. (Let's call it) Then when the people get tired of yelling Ole! The Bull was getting close to this Matador. This guys come out on Horses. I believe they are called Troubadors. They are the one's that ride up on the defenseless Bull and stab it with these spears. Now this particular Bull is pissed. So he starts chasing this guy on the Horse around the arena. He has got this horse pinned up against the wall. He starting to throw this horse up in the air. The dude comes flying off.Drops his spears and hauls ass. Jumping for his life. The people start yelling and screaming Ole!! And a bunch of other chit. All for the Bull. Now it is my belief that in Bullfights the Bull is supposed to never win. Well it looked like this Bull had won. So then they send out about 6 of these guys with spears riding around this bull. It's being very evasive. Hard to get a spear into it. So finally they get about 6 spears into this Bull. It's really sunny out. And the Blood just looked as Red as can be. Pumping and thropping out of this Bull. So then this chicken shit Matador comes back out for the final kill. The Bull looks at him. Paws the earth like he's going to charge the Matador. Falls down flat on it stomach and dies. The Matador did not even get the satisfaction of killing the bull. At that moment about 7/8 of the people got up and walked out of the grandstand area. What a Sad day for the Bull. And what a Sad day for the sport of Bullfighting. I thought if the bull won that they are supposed to be spared? Not so. They can take that Ole. And put it somewhere the sun don't shine. IMOA!! Never go again. Ha!

Buon - that is not the norm. However, the bulls are purposely worn down the first few minutes or the Matador would never have a chance. The picador is supposed to give the bull two lances, three if the bull is very strong. This event is not supposed to be fatal, but done in order to get the bull to drop his head.

When done correctly, the sport is not as inhumane as many make it out to be.

I'm no doper! I just play one on TV.

I was outside a slaughter house outside Louisville, KY Now that was sick, some rednecks yelling and screaming hitting the hogs with a electric prong chasing them around a pen. The pigs were screaming bloody murder, I did not eat pork for years~!

I have been to the bullfights in Manizales and it was awesome, got some great pics to share (of the Cristal models that were doing some kind of promotion, haha) if I can figure out how to do it. Yeah I have bull fighting pics too but I don't think anybody wants to see all that blood and gore. I think it is very common for the bull to get to the picador's horse, it happened more than once in the same day when I went, knocked the damn horse right on its ass. I plan on going again this year.

Once was enough for me. I was actually bored after watching the fourth bull get killed, so I got up and left.

They put vaseline on the bulls eyes and beat them in the kidneys with bags of sand as well before they hit the party.

But the party is excellent in Manizales.

I appreciate and understand why people don't like or approve of bullfights. I don't have any desire to go to one myself actually. But I would be happy to eat a nice Porterhouse steak off that bull after the fight. Mmmmmm!

Here we go again....
It is very difficult to understand bull fights if you were not born and raised in Spain or a Latin country, and your parent took you to them.
I have wonderful memories of going to them in Cali, to La feria de la cana de azucar, "las ferias de Cali"

I remember going with my parents on a hot sunny afternoon, and seeing all the beautiful bright colors on the people's clothing, the ladies with big hats and flowers, the orchestra playing pasodobles, the bota going around with rum or aguardiente. and the most exiting for me was when everyone would yell at once "OLE". ( You had to be there and be Spanish)

Now I would probably not enjoy it, I would be thinking of the poor bull.

Vive la vida y deja vivir!.

Getting out there with a bull takes some big Balls. I've seen videos of things these pissed off bulls do to some guys. These family jewels are not getting into the ring with some bull. A chica. Yes. Bull NO!

It's culture, it's tradition, it shows the true nature of man... right? Wonderful to see an exhausted bull being tortured to death for 15-20 minutes, that's what being a human being is all about. Yuck.

Come to Cordoba and watch a backwards bull fight called a coraleja. The ring is filled with people and the bulls try to kill them, the people, and not the other way around. It is considered a bad coraleja in no one dies. I go a lot but I like to people watch more than the fighting plus there are always at least 3 or 4 Porro bands that play throughout the contest. If you live in Colombia, I am sure you have seen them on TV or maybe it is just a Cordoba thing. The best ones are in Sincelejo and San Carlos. There are always lots of beautiful country girls and women at these events and great after parties. If you really hate bull fighting, you will probably love a good Coraleja.

Juepaje, I'll be at the Sincelejo coraleja in January. It's one of the craziest, insane and (most importantly) fun spectacles I've ever been to. What a gas!

Quite so. It's very difficult to understand lawn bowls if you weren't born in an anglo-saxon country too.

Impenetrable mystery. Just can't be done.

Can you make it to Cali.. Like a full week of bull fighting.. But last time Colombian PETA was protesting though!

Cheers Terry,

Let me know which day you will be there and we can have a PBH meet up in Sincelejo.

PCL,

I doubt PETA would ever go to a coraleja since only humans are being hurt or killed.
