I am planning to take the bus from Bucaramanga to Santa Marta in the next week or so, does anyone know the security situation on that route right now? Is everything safe? Also, what is the best way for someone who speaks little Spanish to get around safely? Have directions for everything in writing to give to the taxis? Thanks.

Peter Solano says on Feb 15, 2008, 15:11: A couple of friends made that route last Christmas and said it was pretty safe, Army every 4 miles or so. Dress in a normal fashion and avoid flashy cloth.Having written directions might help, but finding someone bilingual you can trust is be best.Enjoy your trip. Peter Solano: Tour guide/Interpreter.
