Bringing new computer from US

Hello All,

Am wondering is someone could help me here. I am thinking of travelling to the US to buy one or maybe two laptops. My question is would I be charged duty when I come into the country though I am not a resident? Also has anyone any idea how much they would charge if the items were mailed to me (do I have to pay duty though I am not a colombian resident?).
Hope you can be of help.

Gracias

Gavin

New computer from US I just recently brought a new computer from the US to Cali and was not charged a cent. Customs in Cali did however ask me what was in the box (computer) and did open the box and briefly look at the computer. They also asked to see the receipt. Then I was free to go...no problems.

computer I brought a system with me, but customs did not ask for a receipt, nor did I need pay any tax... but it was not in a box, as I carried it on the plane with me. I read in other posts, that apparently you can bring 2 or 3 identical items, and the posters did not have to pay tax. But I do not know if this would hold for laptops or not.

No Charge I took a computer in boxes (CPU, monitor, keyboard, mouse, web-cam) a year ago and had no problem or charges.
