BRINGING LADIES TO UK TOURIST - UK EMBASSY

I would like to ask questions to British men about bringing ladies to UK. UK & USA Embassy might be different, so I need to ask British men.

I would like to be prepared for my future with a lady - to bring her to UK.

1. What kind of questions will they ask her when she goes to British Embassy in Colombia for an interview?

2. What kind of evidence will she need to show them? Photos of me and the lady? What else?

3. Will I need to bring my bank statement? Will I need to write an invitation letter for her? If so, what shall I write in the letter?

4. If I decide to have her as Tourist Visa for up to 90 days, what would they need to ask her?

5. Will she have to know at least some English?

6. In what cases, ladies are most likely to FAIL on applications?

7. How much does the visa costs?

Is there any other questions, I should know about?

Thank you in advance ...............................

Didn't you just break off an engagement in April? You move to quickly, you should think about taking it easy this time and slow down a little.

This reminds me of the zeroeth law of thermal dynamics, a law that is so considerably more fundamental than the first law of thermal dynamics that it has to be number zero. If i remember rightly if body A is in thermal dynamic equilibrium with body B, and body B is in thermal dynamic equilibrium with body C, then body A must be in thermal dynamic equilibrium with body C.

So maybe cake boy, to your 7 point list you should add a number zero.

Find woman.

Have at least ten apply for a Visa. That way you might get two or three through the process sucessfully...

Although you're only asking British men....when I went to the UK Embassy in Bogota with my ex this is how it was for us:

be prepared for being asked basic stuff like how long she's known you, about your family members (eg name of mum, brothers etc), plans for the future etc pretty basic

when they interviewed me, they asked similar questions adding questions about whether I had considered the possibility he was using me for the visa (they were very upfront about that part!).

we brought photos of holidays we'd had, our wedding in the UK etc - they took a brief look.

the law is, the person has to be interviewed in their native language, so your lady will be interviewed in spanish - she wont need to speak any english, although when they address you, they will probably speak to you in english and your interview has to be in english.

whether someone is likely to fail depends entirely on the circumstances and who interviews you! it was a difficult process but only lasted a few hours and we went back for his visa the next day....he's lived in the UK over 7 years now whereas I live in Colombia :)

I just noticed you're only looking for a tourist visa.....that should be alot easier ....I was talking about a spouse/fiance visa.

For a tourist visa, the letter has to say who is inviting her (obvisouly include your name or the person writing the letter and your lady's full details cedula etc), where she will stay and for how long.

She has to provide bank statements, as the person applying for the visa....you wont be interviewed - it is down to her.

Thank you Verricheri... this is most helpful

If I were to invite my EX-prometida, she wouldn't know names of any of my family members. I know all of hers and in fact I remember her children's date of birth MORE than she does!!!

Hi Cake
You will certainly need to provide evidence that you can support her because she will not be allowed to work. Bank statements, evidence of income, details of your residence (rent/mortgage, how much you pay). What are her resources also because they will not allow her to go/stay without evidence that she can display some independence.
Correspondence between yourselves would be a benefit, which would hopefully prove that the relationship is real and likely to last. Letters, birthday/Valentine's/Xmas/you name it are all useful.
Some English would be a huge benefit; I know somebody from Colombia who had to write to the Embassy in English and speak the language during the interview. Not sure if this is always the case as she was after a study-English student visa.
Unfortunately, the lack of resources between you could be a major stumbling block but who knows, you may be a rich guy Cake!
It is not an easy thing to do and the Home Office seems to tighten the rules regularly. The tourist visa may be the easiest way.
Sorry Cake, no idea of costs but it may help if you were with her at the Embassy interview to help the application and display some solidarity.
Please make sure that you genuinely know this girl and it is a thing that you both want before embarking on this difficult mission!

Mr Cake designer(wannabe),
Do you live here,if so why would you want to take a girl back to Blighty? Enjoy your time here with them,if you need a holiday you could go to another Latin American or Caribean country.Generally Colombian women hate living,as opposed to visiting,England. My wife was there for 10 years and it sent her off her trolly towards the end.

One thing most people don't realise is that there is no limit on how often you can renew your visitor's visa. Each one can be 6 months, and you do not have to wait before applying again. In practice, the staff will try to make you wait, say, 3 months, but there is no provision in the law to support that view.

If you want to get married in UK, you have to get a fiancee visa. If you marry, say, in Colombia, you can enter UK on a married visa. These are both settlement visas, in that they lead to permanent residence over time without needing to leave the country. Both parties must be over 21 in both cases, even though Brits can marry at 18 and Scots at 16. (from memory)

With a visitor's visa, they are worried that a young (and beautiful) woman may seek to marry a Brit and stay in UK, or simply not return home. You need to show that your gf has the funds to live in UK and also to return home. Also you need to show that she has reason to return, such as a job, studies, or family reasons.

I think you should write an invitation letter saying you will pay her way and her return, for how long, and why, and attach a bank statement
and proof of earnings.

I have known cases where it was very difficult and others where it was very easy. Hard to predict.

That's approximately a monkey and a score less than a pony, i normally pay about 6 tonnes give or take a monkey

I guess the best way to actually book it would be through www.airfrance.co.uk then you can pay in sterling and probably get the best price

They work in pairs, a bi-lingual local and the English boss. The interview is in Spanish with the local, the boss and local confer in English. I suspect that the boss knows English as it's a requirement for the job but he doesn't use it. I was present a an English friend to "vouch" for her and was totally ignored. It was for a transit visa so there was no letter of invitation from me.

You pay up-front for the visa and may not be granted it, they are not cheap. My educated guess is that her visa would be refused. Best of luck.

Best of luck

btw cake be sure to let us know how it goes - just curious but could also be useful in future.

We have invited the ex's sister to UK from Ukraine as a visitor a couple of times for 6 month shots with no problem. Is Colombia so different? And she's gorgeous - a real threat to the stability of the UK population, you would think.

I know Kiev, Odessa and Kharkov. Married a girl from Kharkov. Even spoke a bit of Russian at one time, and visited Moscow, Tallinn and Kyrgyzstan. My daughter age 7 is in Ukraine now - flying alone! Back Sunday for school after 6 weeks there brushing up her Russian with her aunts, uncles and cousins in the remote countryside. Now she is now fluent again. She loves telling jokes, and now she can do it in Russian too!

I really have no idea about relative numbers, but I also know a lot of Ukrainians in UK.

Where in UK are you? I am near Manchester.
