Bringing dog to medellin

I am bringing my dog with me to medellin in April and was wondering if anyone has brought a pet into colombia? I have heard some horror stories of people trying to bring there pets abroad. Also I wont have a visa when I enter not sure if that makes a difference with a pet. Any info would be great

There is no problem bringing a dog to Colombia at all, I have brought several dogs in and out and never have had a problem, as long as you have all the papers required, vaccinations, health certificates, chip...that is all you need. how old is the dog? How big? If he is a small dog, less than 10lbs, you can even bring him on the cabin with you ( American Airlines is the only one that doesn't let you do this) for a fee, Delta, Copa, Continental and Avianca will let you bring the puppy in the cabin, however, some airlines have embargos due to weather, too hot or too cold, if you bring him as checked luggage, you need to check with the specific airline's website, and you will find the info you need. Hope this helps

thanks for the info... my mom had asked about her chihuahuas(sp?),... anyway, they did tell her for avianca it would be $200 roundtrip per dog... but didn't mention boarding in the cabin...

She needs to advise them she will be traveling with her two chihuahuas in the cabin, in other words, she needs to make a reservation for them.

Avianca charged me $100.................they must know in advance........also ........Not sure if it is relevant when the same person is bringing two dogs..............but they have a one pet minimum per cabin..............

Catfish, the right question is who sent him out?
