Is anyone interested in participating in a BJJ class (beginner class)? There is a BJJ class in Poblado at 430 pm ea day, starting today. Price is 130,000 pesos a month, 1 hr lessons. I had a look last night and the teacher is a great guy and speaks good english - very relaxed class and he's been doing it for 7 years (I think).
There is also a class at 6.30 pm, which did not suit me, so Carlos is opening the 430 pm class.
Location is on the Palmero School (the School on the way up to P lleres from p Poblado)

Brians says on Apr 14, 2009, 09:34: That is a great price bickerss. How old are you? Be careful before training with inexperienced students as they will lack control and fuck your joints up. 12VOIP.com gives free calls to Colombia. Brian 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

bickerss says on Apr 14, 2009, 09:36: Not too old - I hope - the class was controlled pretty well, mostly younger but a few older-ish guys and one girl. For someone who is so inflexible that I cannot even sit cross-legged, I don't think I will be winning any outstanding student awards!! Investment Strategy - buying when others are crying!! Offloading when others are gloating!!! 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

Brians says on Apr 14, 2009, 10:04: I did Gracie JJ for awhile as an addition to boxing. I was the biggest guy in the school so i figured it would be easy. Had to check my ego at the door. Learning curve is huge. Students only 6 months in and 40 pounds lighter killed me for a couple of months. However since they had no control my body took the brunt of it. I still have tenditious in my right shoulder to this day. Still loved it and wish I stayed with it but got a little bored after a year as unless I wanted to compete or something I felt I got out of it what I wanted. 12VOIP.com gives free calls to Colombia. Brians says on Apr 14, 2009, 10:20: BTW ElSapo is always looking to roll around on the mats bickerss but be careful as he seems to just like grabbing onto guys. Just my two cents. 12VOIP.com gives free calls to Colombia. Brian 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

bickerss says on Apr 14, 2009, 10:23: yeah - from watching last night there are a few positions that could be somewhat 'uncomfortable' from both a physical comfort perspective and body part 'location' perspective!!! muddie says on Apr 15, 2009, 18:33: man, I haven’t done that in years, but would be fun and good exercise to do it again. How much is it for “per class"

Brians says on Apr 16, 2009, 07:58: Sapo loves being in the guard. His favorite position and you can pretty much deduct why... 12VOIP.com gives free calls to Colombia. Brian 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

Rocco81 says on Apr 16, 2009, 09:46: Wrestling is bar none the BEST foundation IMO for fighting. I say this because its free, its ancient (no mysterious moves just hard work and sick fitness) and its something you can start very early in life. If you are a very good wrestler who learns submissions and even more importantly how to avoid and counter submissions you can have the makings of a great ground fighter. Now I am not saying if you put a gi on them they will go win tournaments, but I am saying as far as applying your skills for fighting, you are a level ahead. Sic semper tyrannis 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

I mean when you practice you wear sweats, shorts, whatever...then in the match you wear the singlet just so people don't get tangled up. I just go out, do work and finito..never really thought much about anything other that getting the W. Some people read to much into it I guess. Sic semper tyrannis 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

bickerss says on Apr 16, 2009, 10:58: could be; I have no idea of prices in other countries, but works out at about 6500 a class if you go to all of them. Investment Strategy - buying when others are crying!! Offloading when others are gloating!!! 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

Rocco81 says on Apr 16, 2009, 20:02: Yeah in MMA you find that the syles excelling are the same syles that were excelling in the 90's during the first UFC's. Those styles are competitive olympic based sports. I agree w/ you Jeff that competition fighting is only useful to a point as far as like Karate, TKD, Kung Fu..because they do form and theory.. but the olympic fighting arts as well as a few new hybrids are very effective. Rocco81 says on Apr 19, 2009, 14:01: Yeah Jeff you're right that is because guys who know what they are doing have nothing to prove. Guys that know what they are capable of don't need to go showing it off. That is for insecure pricks and wanna be tough guys in Affliction flaming skull t-shirts and shit. (hate that fad BTW had to throw that in haha..) Once you've gone out, been tapped by somoene that was smaller and weaker than you and seen what is up you understand humility and respect much better.
