Or Consomé if you prefer.
I have had bone soup a couple of times in Colombia and it was pretty tasty. I bet most of you didn't know that I'm a pretty good cook and that I really enjoy making colombian food.
Well anyway I was thinking of making some bone soup today so I open my colombian cook book to the soup section and this is what I found for the list of ingredients for bone soup:
2 nabos medianos
2 zanahorias medianas
2 puerros
1 rama de aprio
2 cebollas cabezaonas blancas
3 huesos de res or ternera
1 PATA DE POLLO !!!
1/2lb de carne de res en trozos
2 claras de huevo
Sal
Now my question is: Why would anybody throw a chickens foot in the pot? And if you are going to throw one in why not make it two? Do you think I could get away with throwing in a chicken wing or leg in instead of the foot.

Lionheart says on Dec 13, 2004, 11:08: chicken foot is common I have seen it used in many Southern European recipes for consomé. Normally it is taken out before served, but some make it a point to show it off, telling everybody the cook knows how to make consomé. Yes, it is for flavor, you don't eat it.
