you're not kidding Gator.. In addition to the obvious damage in the pics. of the paper, another amigo today was driving in Cali and tells me he saw windows blown out from Torre de Cali to Granada. Whoa!!!

utopiacowboy says on Apr 9, 2007, 21:06:

Why can't they do something constructive and blow up Chipichapi Mall?

Disclaimer: any comment I make is inane and is not to be taken seriously, and is so patently ridiculous that no one should take it seriously, even as an insult.

Hey Feliz, If they blew up Chipi that would give a new name to "plastic explosive" jajajajajaa

goin_south says on Apr 9, 2007, 21:42:

They're going to close down all the "massage parlors" around Chipi Chape. They're illegally established in a residential neighbourhood that's not zoned for "tolerancia".

good Desi We need to keep the North clean. Close down those low lifes.

I do need to go and experience the 'more seemy side of life' in Colombia, before getting hitched to my Pastusa.
(But, then it would likely be 'instead of', and not 'before') lol

Based on developing events, I need some reassurances So I went to Cali for two weeks last year and about to go back for 3 weeks next month, but now I'm a little nervous. These recent bombings have me a little concerned about my well being in Cali.

I blend in very well and speak Colombian spanish fluently, however I go out partying every single night I am in town. For those of you living in Cali, what concerns should I have and what recommendations can you give so I come back home in one piece? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

laloca says on Apr 10, 2007, 10:15:

don't panic!!!! just avoid about anything that's public. don't worry you will be fine. maybe I would stay somewhere around the police station where the bomb took place most likely there won't be a second attempt. I honestly hope that it doesn't get any worst like it was back in the 80's or early 90's where many of the pharmacies "la rebaja" in cali were blown up. If I were you I would not worried. U will be fine.

aztec says on Apr 10, 2007, 10:26:

May be safe as... ...any place in the world but my remaining Cali relative is in the process of leaving. He is a medical doctor who has been there at least 30 years.

calikitty1 says on Apr 10, 2007, 10:51:

¿Por Favor? How many of you would be driving a taxi passed the police station at midnight? Gang (narcos) violence is up but really is not that unsafe for the average resident.. But I would not visit Agua Blanca or Barrio Siloé, and some others anytime.

I do agree with Laloca's comments.

STEVENYCER says on Apr 10, 2007, 11:53:

Thanks for the input... ...I wasn't worried at all when I visited last year, And there were elections going on as well (ley seca). I just wanna make sure nothing goes wrong, as my main reason for traveling there is to party and have a good time. I simply take the normal precautions (no jewelry, no english, no dar papaya). I definitely will not go to Siloe, Aguasblancas, or Marroquines, I know better than that. My only concern really is heading out to Juanchito regularly.

STEVENYCER says on Apr 10, 2007, 12:08:

Is Juanchito and Cali Nightlife safe? Reply with your thoughts...

arthur brode says on Apr 10, 2007, 13:56:

Juanchito is not a problem But to be on the safe side, just dont hop in any taxi at night that does not have a tel.number on it,ie. 555-5555,444-4444 ect.

Gator says on Apr 10, 2007, 14:21:

Follow Tio Arthur's... advice-I would really consider going with some others. In as much as a left Cali sometime ago for Bogotá have not been to that area in a while but we have visited Cali to see Mrs. Gator's sisters. Heard no really alarming reports concerning Juanchito

The explosion woke me up! I was in Cali when this occured. Here's a photo.

Titan says on Apr 13, 2007, 02:35:

Cali Bomb Cali is a big congested city and I could attest that this bomb was heard all over Cali. The timing of the bomb (0030hrs), wasn't very conducive to inflicting much harm or deaths; although one person (taxi driver) unfortunately perished. The FARC or whoever was responsible will hopefully soon pay for this cowardly act.

Gator says on Apr 13, 2007, 09:04:

The Local Betting.... is the narco gangs-not FARC
