I know that there are a few of you in Bogota, and I was wondering if someone might be able to do the world of transportation a favour..
The Transmilenio in Bogota is possibly the world's best example of a high capacity heavily used Bus Rapid Transit system. It truly sets the bar for what many other cities in the world aim to achieve. However in North America things tend to happen on the cheap and rapid bus systems don't get stations - the get glorified bus stops.
My strongest belief is that the fare-paid all-door, level-boarding stations in Bogota are an essential ingredient to a successful BRT. Unfortunately there are no videos out there that describe the Transmilenio station design and functions.
Soo....I'm looking for someone to make a video clip (of any quality) about a minute or two long that shows one of the Downtown Transmilenio Stations (Las Aguas?) and describes (in English) using the station - how you get from the sidewalk to the station, past the vending window and turnstiles to the main station area, maybe show a bus pulling up, and people disembarking from the several doors.
Post it on U-Tube and then post a link here or something!!

I know its being studied,,, On Sept 17, 2008: Senator John McCain said, as he had many times before, that he believed the fundamentals of the economy were "strong."Hours later he backpedaled, explaining that he had meant that American workers were Strong. 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

JMCana says on Apr 26, 2007, 05:09: The transportation in Bogota and surrounding areas is interesting. Talking about it brings as many opinions and emotions as discussing religion or politics. And much is due to each person's experience. Rubito for instance loves the TM. IMO the TM is good but there is much room for improvement.
