Bogota questions

I will be in Bogota for 2 nights in Feb.
I have been all over Central America including numerous trips to Panama for business and vacation but have never been to Columbia.

A few questions:
Best place to stay in Bogota under $100?
I understand Zona Rosa is where many of the restaurants and clubs are.

Good bar for drinks, music and pretty girls(women). I should state though that I am in my forties so clubs that get hopping at 2am are a little late for me.

Last question: can you drink the water in Bogota?
Never had problems in Panama or Costa Rica but Guatemala and Belize where another story.

I really enjoy Panama City, great nightlife, very friendly people. One thing I kept hearing was how beautiful Columbia is, looking forward to experiencing it first hand.
Thanks.

Dude, colombia is the best, I like it much better than panama - and yes, the women are amazing and very friendly. For your questions:

Try Hotel St Simon in Zona Rosa - 2 minutes from great bars restaurants etc. 124,000 pesos for a small rm, about 140,000 for a larger one.

bars - There are wto main areas - ona Rosa and Park 93 (about 11 blocks apart) Bogota Beer Company in Zona Rosa is great (right near you). There are two of them - and one in Parque 93. You can meet other expats there if u want. Irish pub, nearby in Zona T - great pub and always packed. Discos, Maria Mulata starts at about 11 pm and is just around the corner.

In P 93 (20 min walk or 4000 pesos taxi ride) is Salto del Angel - starts about 11 pm Thurs to Sat - is a great place and older crowd. Tabu, near here is also great. Many other clubs - depending what u want ie salsa, hip hop, rock. Do a search under my nickname and u will find apost I did detailing heaps of them.

If u want to get away from these two areas, there is a BBC in calle 116 as well which is really good, and another in Usaquen. In Usaqen ther is also an awsome indian restaurant that has dancing etc fri and sat.

If u r there on a Thursday, then try the luna bar singles night (on about 120 or something) The waitresses act like little cupids.

Water - I always drink the water from my hotel and have not had any problems yet. I think Bogota and medellin are the two cities where this is safe to do.

Good luck and enjoy.

You can stay at Hotel Casa You can stay at Hotel Casa Real for about US$80. It's a short walk from Parque de la 93, about a block.

I advice against BBC, the service is just ok and the music sucks, no eye candy either. Go to The Eight Bells Pub instead, also in Usaquen. You said you're in your forties so Salto del Angel is advisable as are Andres Carne de Res (great place) in Chia and maybe Full '80s (good music, shitty service). Also, if you;re into the singles stuff, as the previous poster suggested, do go to Luna Bar.

Water here has a reputation for being clean and safe. But if you have a history of problems with the water, then by all means avoid it.
