Well I have finally got enough info about wavefront eye surgery to be able to make a decision as to where to have the operacion performed.
Costs are very similar so I would like some opinions on which city they would visit.
Bogota or Medellin??
I will have stay in one city for about a week in order to make sure the operacion was a success.
I like to drink ( I am english) although I am going to be solo which can be a bit of a bummer.
I enjoy strolling around looking at intresting sights( I walked around habana for days).
I intend to try to improve my spanish if possible,so which city has the friendly people??
After England at the moment I would like a bit of warmth on my back,so is Bogota that cold??
Anyone to tell what city I might enjoy best????

Gator says on Feb 10, 2006, 10:32: Personally... Bogotá especially for sightseeing. Cold? Nights say mid 40's day time mid 60's. I find the people in Bogotá, as well as all of Colombia-six of one half a dozen of the other. Might show a little prejudice since the wife and I live in Bogotá "Brevior Sltare Cum Deformibus Mulieribus Est Vita!" . |

thur says on Feb 10, 2006, 10:50: Both... ... are friendly cities. Of course everyone will say Medellin is so much nicer and warmer, but Bogotá has nice spots. Sightseeing indeed, Plaza de Bolivar, Botero museum, Colpatria (for panoramic view), Monserrate, Gold museum, Candelaria, Parque 93, Bogota Beer (or Beer Station), etc. And it's not that cold... day temperature can be between 17-20°C, at night 8-11°C. - www.pbase.com/thur |

ginis says on Feb 12, 2006, 19:20: Personally, Medellín, I´m not paisa..., but is nicer city if you compare it with Bogotá, Yeah, Bogotá has museums and all that, but Medellín... Oah,has museums, parks, bars, pubs, small pretty towns, nice people and a lot of friendly Colombian people and of course foreigners...

kernow62 says on Feb 12, 2006, 19:31: ginis Bogotá has all the things you mention, so I would hardly say "Oah". In fact Bogotá just has more of all these things. Perhaps the climate in Bogotá is more to your liking, or you might like the terrible paisa accent, but you can hardly say it out does Bogotá in the things you mention.

Good luck with the LASIK and make sure you have the very best Dr. down there. Saw a recent story on local news here in South Florida where one guy had it done in Colombia and almost lost eyesight in one eye (entire corneal flap was lost) but also heard of a guy who had in done in SOFLA who also had problems. Both were with lower cost outfits. get down, get down. are you afraid of the boogie monster? |
