Bogotá not a safe place, why?

How people form other cities like to portrait Bogotá as too dangerous, when lots of the crimes are done by residents from other cities.

Sure Bogota has many dangerous areas. Again just be careful where you go. Any city with 7 million people will have plenty of bad apples and yeah, Bogota is a lttle rougher than your "normal" modern city with that many people. So just be careful.

Wanna see a real dangerous barrio? Try barrio portal del sur a click up the hill from that prison (picota -sp?). Did it one time myself - never again. The damn taxi driver was nervous and refused to go all the way to our destination.

Had cachacos been in living in La costa instead of costeños, Colombia would had been better off.

Not wonder the Invasors found costeños either deep sleep or drunk.

I'm the one who got stabbed in Bogota, and I STILL prefer it here.

And as you all damn well know I was getting ass in NYC, although not like here. Here is another trip.

Now if you'll excuse me I'm off to make money being appreciated doing music, something that is impossible in North America these days unless your name is Jimmy Buffet or Eric Clapton.

Frankly I doubt it. We have a connection with the Hard Rock but those people are so chichipato I doubt it would be worth our while to go. I'm doing well here in BOG now so I don´t go out of town unless it's more lucrative than staying here :P

There is one band I'm auditioning for next week that plays all over Latin America so I'll let you know.

Bogota rocks. It's a tough place in many ways but the good more than makes up for the bad.

I don't regret moving here one bit, not even after having to eat shit for months and getting stabbed. I'd do it all over again in a heartbeat. This place is the most awesome place I have ever been. Moving here was the best decision of my life. I totally get what Brian Andrews said when he said he started LIVING the day he moved here.

I've been to other places in Colombia, and they are great places to visit, most of them, but I don't want to live anywhere else but here.

Is Bogota for everybody? Hell no. Stupid and lazy and ignorant people SUFFER here. That means there is a lot of suffering here. You have to be bright and savvy and above all RUTHLESS to make it here. But it can be done, is being done and WILL be done. Plus I like that, a place that punishes the stupid, the incompetent, the inept, the lazy, the unfit, and rewards the cream of the crop. The best ingredient in a meal is the hunger of others. :)
