Male or female fashion? I guess jeans are always in style but I hate wearing them if I know it is going to rain so I understand your issue with trying to pack based on the weather.

Big chunky artesan jewellery (tagua, etc) is in style. Looong necklaces, cute little hangy things to clip onto your purse straps.

The weather is perfect: jeans, a nice top and then a light jacket/sweater/throw/ruana for when it cools off. Cool enough that you can layer up, warm enough it would be hard to feel anymore than slightly cool with just a top and jeans.

The air is dry tho, and the sun is strong when it is clear - take your shades and plan to buy some sunscreen and moisturizer when you get there.

Personally I'd rather pack light and shop a bit while there. Unless you live somewhere that is hot year-round, then you'll be able to pick up clothes that can be worn anywhere.

I was in Bogota in November, and the rain wasn't a big problem. If it starts to rain really hard just duck into a cafe for a coffee or something. The really heavy showers are sporadic, and the sidewalks don't get too puddly (the roads OTOH can).

please just avoid wearing those long toed witchy boots that they complain about walking in. I hate the way they look anyway, so help me, and yourself, on this.

admittedly, arriving can feel great too

Yeah-- for women, the knee-high, dominatrix boots are in fashion.

Pack warm, warm clothes. It's freezing here. Quite literally. It hailed yesterday.

LOL On those Knee High black Dominatrix Boots, a Colombian friend of mine here in Miami wore those when she visited and all the Street Guys(Black&White) were Whistling at her and she couldn't figure out why. Why? Because many the "Gals of the Night" also wear them here in the Cooler Winter Months(like now),,,LOL Its their "Signal" they are looking for "Action",,,LOL

My wife and I saw them (Knee High Boots) on the streets of Cartagena. The girls were prostitutes. They were very young and beautiful.

What a tragedy.

I don't like those boots either. In fact any shoe that has the front end pointed and sticking out three yards just don't look good and the definitely don't look comfortable.

Personally, I think that the whole idea of fashion is over rated. Instead of spending money on this years fashions, I'd rather save my money for a nice trip abroad.

People should create their own fashion based on their personal likes/dislikes and create from there, instead of checking out what everybody else is wearing and basing their style choices on someone else's opinion on what's cool and "in."

It is hard to pack for Bogota... I just got back this week and honestly it is colder than I expected... have a jacket for the rain since it rains almost everyday, have a jacket for the cold... but during the day you might get some really hot weather so overall pack for warm weather... but don't forget something for the rain and the cold... in short, bring everything you have... lol

I'm personally a fan of the knee high boot but I've been wearing the flat kind with a rounded toe instead of heels with the pointy toe lately. They are so much more comfortable and are still great because you can wear them with a skirt or just over your jeans. I found them on sale at Santorini. If you wear your skinny jeans tucked in the boots you won't have to worry about having soggy jeans when it rains. :) I usually wore a thin long sleeve shirt during the day while in Bogota and took a sweatercoat/cardigan type thing to put on over that if I got chilly in the shade. You'll want to take something even warmer for the evenings nowadays.

I'd recommend to dress for spring like weather, and always have an umbrella handy. Plus a jacket or sweater if your planning to be out in the evening

Now that we are talking fashion... Has the UGG(ly) boot trend reached bogota? Please tell me it hasnt, I am sick of seeing those horrid fashion mistakes running free on the streets. Id rather deal with pointy witch boots by far!

I thought Ugg boots dies out, about 2-3 years ago?

Another thing to bring: Heavy wool socks and warm "house shoes." Most of the places here don't have central heating-- and it gets really cold in the units, due to the cement block construction.

Loved the kill a cockroach in the corner description for the witch boots. I have a pair, my brother calls them pizza shoes b/c the toes are pointy like a slice of pizza. Anyway, they aren't very practical though for walking around longer than 10 minutes so I don't wear them often. I too hate the Ugg. I thought they went out of style a couple of years ago but apparently not because I still see them in ads and women wearing them.

Strobers, I couldn't agree more!! Fashion is WAYyyyyyyyyyyy Over rated! Otherwise then Underwear and Socks, I save my Money by buying Everything Clothing Wise in the Goodwill Thrift and 2nd Hand Stores. New clothing is such a waste of money in that it depreciates fron Day One and says nothing about a person's Character or education. The Only asset even worse Americans fall for are New cars-lose $3K-$4K on the First day! Hmmm, thats a nice Colombian Vacation,,,

see, these were the same boots that were worn by the wicked witch in the Wizard of OZ. Obviously they didn't get that movie in Colombia. I hate 'em. I didn't notice a cockroach problem there, but why else would they wear these?

I'm amazed that some ofyou would associate pointy shoes or boots with prostitues. I think that it takes more than pointy boots (ok maybe a thigh-high pointy boot would say something loud), but what about these pointy-boot outfits:

If you want Lots of Whistles and Proposals and are a lady, just slip into those thigh high leather boots and stroll a few blocks in any Direction from the main Immigration Bldg on Biscayne Blvd here in Miami,,,after Sundown preferably,,,
