Bogota-Bucaramanga Bus fare

So I know the new posted rate for this route in 2008 is 70,000. I used to always buy my tickets online from Berlinas for 55,000 but now their site is not working so I can't. Any idea how much the rate will be at the terminal? I am guessing from Bucara to Bog I can get it around 50,000 for a night bus this week, am i about right? Someone told me though that in Bog it is nearly impossible to show up at the terminal and haggle a rate for the way back. Does that sound right, should I plan to pay the 70,000? I will probably be leaving on a bus in the afternoon on a weekday this week. Any suggestions for a company I should use. I prefer a bus that is comfy and doesn't stop a zillion times. Quick responses needed please. Thanks!

Except for high-season travel around christmas or semana santa I have never paid the full price on Berlinas leaving Bogota or any other place. I am sure 55k gets you the ride. Good luck.

What I have, I do not want to lose, but Where I am I do not want to stay, but those I love, I do not want to leave, but those I know I no longer want to see, but Where I die, I do not want to go;I want to stay where I have never been

They are always looking to negotiate and discount the trip in person.... Ask for a direct/express bus, those are the one's that don't stop a million times...

adrienne you should be able to pay 50,000 if you travel night and during the week day....on weekend its hard for them to give a discount...go to their offices...the one I use is on calle 52 and 18 ( I think)

I have paid as low as 35K and as high as 40K. You can bring the price down any day. I have done that.

35,000 to 40,000 is on those smaller bus companies smaller buses and not quite a direct route....I would stick with the bigger companies...more comfortable and quicker

To update, as Jorge said...
I paid 55,000 for the night bus from Buc-Bog direct on Berlinas. Bought the ticket from the office that vic mentioned. I couldn't negotiate for less since I wasn't willing to buy the return ticket at that point.
For the way back I paid 50,000 at the terminal in Bogota for a bus that left at 10:30am.

Yes, I was the first one at the MRE. After the MRE I went to Dunken Donuts and caught a cab. I was at the terminal by 10:20. Thanks Vic for all your help.

I loved the new bus depot in Bucaramanga - feels closer to an airport than a bus depot. My only complaint is that it too far out of town.

and it has a million steps from the bottom of the terminal to the taxi area. after a long trip the last thing you want to do is climb a million steps

Oh yeah, now that you mention it I do recall lots of stairs, and some really nifty luggage slides.

Guess it wasn't enough of an annoyance to me to stick (and yes I did have to go up them).
