Bogota apparently not a good place to live

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/business/4306936.stm

"In Latin America, "no city manages to present ideal living conditions, neither do any fall into the category where extreme difficulties are faced", the EIU said.

Montevideo in Uruguay, Santiago in Chile and Buenos Aires in Argentina offer the region's best conditions. Bogota in Colombia and Caracas in Venezuela score the least favourably. "

I've never liked Bogota much anyway. Give me Medellin or the coast, and I'm a happy man.

Canadian cities fair well, to add to the other thread about how it is 'better' than Colombia (which it isn't necessarily).

That being said, I'd still rather live in Buenos Aires or London than most of the top 10 on that list.

Interesting... they must have taken the horrible traffic here into consideration!

In that case Toronto would definitely not be in the top 10!

I think safety is a huge part of what they took into consideration, which is a bit unfair on a city like Bogota, where safety varies completely on the neighbourhood you are in. In fact, any big 'world' city would suffer as a result.

It's actually an interesting thing how they judge a place like London as unlikely to have terrorist attacks despite the rather numerous terrorist attacks there in the last 5 years.

I'm much more worried about a big dramatic terror attack when I'm places like NYC or London that in Bogota. On the other hand, the odds of getting killed in normal street crime are a lot higher in Bogota.

loved Montevideo, not kick-ass, but had a great time there. Barcelona was KICK-ASS though.
